Heh, and wasn’t it good to see the very rare one to have slipped under the Wetherby’s PC-police win his race in the 4.45 Newmarket on Saturday at 6/1.
The gelding ……….. NOBELIXAugust 27, 2007 at 10:47 #4938I noticed a poor unfortunate thoroughbred which had the misfortune to be named Fluffy entered at Beverly the other day and I reckon that must be the worst name I’ve seen for a racehorse. Mind you, Oops comes a close second. The cleverest in my opinion was Wsixtimes and the most outrageous name I think was Mary Hinge. I would be interested to hear if anyone can top that lot.
August 27, 2007 at 10:59 #112591Friends in the US always laugh at Cute Ass, also the Champion in the US Isitingood (ie. Is it in good) is always a good chuckle
August 27, 2007 at 16:59 #112618And yet the Americans never batted an eyelid over Rugged Bugger. Strange.
August 27, 2007 at 17:21 #112621i have been waiting for ages for this horse :[/color:2i5zaz6r] http://www.racingpost.co.uk/horses/racing_horse_form.sd?horse_id=582345[/color:2i5zaz6r] to hit the tracks in this country (apparently it was claimed from france to race here but something must be amiss with it

just imagine the commentary ….
it was reported they tried to give it this name in french language but were not allowed so just used the english words instead, a bit like someone at the hra not thinking anything wrong with wichser for a horses name[/color:2i5zaz6r]
August 27, 2007 at 17:58 #112627Just see Tommo calling that home and Mr Chapman what will he say?
I like the american horses that have fanny as a name the americans dont have a clue what it means here.
August 27, 2007 at 18:02 #112628If I remember rightly, Russian Rhythm was related to a horse in the USA with a name along the lines of Ivegotabadliver
August 27, 2007 at 18:44 #112636Majorbigtimesheet is another funny one from the US, Makinanhonestbuck, Swingforthefences are other useful horses (stakes performers) stateside in recent years.
Oh and anyone who remembers Freefourinternet (ex-European runner and Graded stakes winner) may well be familiar with the website Free4Internet (it’s of the Over 18’s variety)
August 27, 2007 at 21:17 #112653A favourite of mine is: Your Tent Or Mine.
August 27, 2007 at 23:26 #112669Well, at least we know what sites you like to surf (when you’re not on TRF of course), Irish Stamp!
August 28, 2007 at 00:58 #112674I thought this one was clever, entered at the weekend:-
Serial Habit
Dam:-Satire
Sire:-LahibAugust 28, 2007 at 07:31 #112679I’ve mentioned this one more than once before, but the best one I’ve seen is Wait For The Will. He’s by Seeking The Gold out of You’d Be Surprised.
He was named by Paul Mellon not long before the mega-rich owner died. Mellon left his wealth to charities, so presumably intended Wait for The Will’s name as a sign to his family as to what he would be doing.

IwantitbadenufAugust 28, 2007 at 11:02 #112703Surely there is nothing more imaginitive or clever than Son of Snurge. Anyone care to guess who his sire is?

thinking, thinking…..August 28, 2007 at 16:36 #112778I think a clever one is Oceans Apart, by Desert Prince out of Ffestiniogg (apologies to any Welsh members if I’ve spelt her name wrong) Incidentally every one of her foals have been winners – Boston Lodge, Brecon Beacon, Oceans Apart,Harlech Castle & Eisteddfod.

It was for my research on the geography of gun crime during my University days Mesh – lots of violence, surely you didn’t think it was…
