Rich, I was very happy ignoring Hurdy’s posts. Unfortunately in the Arkle thread he suddenly decided to wake up from his lull and have a huge go at me for no reason whatsoever. I’m very happy to spend 30 minutes a day pushing his buttons because it means the daft old sod will have to go through old posts he’s written to copy what he wrote and then paste it into a new post.
February 27, 2012 at 19:35 #393908Why don’t you just be the bigger man and carry on ignoring him? Rising to the bait on all that….
This whole Minsk saga has left a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t like how this throat infection thing has been handled at all. Maybe I’m just a bit bitter having backed it on Saturday, but I just don’t buy it. He travelled well but just didn’t quicken at all in the final furlong. Huge disappointment after all the hype.
February 27, 2012 at 19:44 #393910Where’s the fun in that?
February 27, 2012 at 22:08 #393937Lost all confidence in this race. Just can’t split 5 of them. Sadly i’m pinned on sadlers and the more i think the more i worry about his out paced effort before staying on in ok terms.
rpr 134 is a bit low too. Few things i am HOPING for:
Hobbs horses turn a corner.
Sadlers settles a bit better early on.
The rise in progress fits the climb of detroit city a la hobbs 120’s to 130’s then win the triumph. Can’t commit any more to the race now, it is too difficult.
February 28, 2012 at 09:14 #393968Anyone have any ideas if PFN plans to run Dodging Bullets in this? I thought it ran pretty well at the weekend behind Grumeti, despite wanting to go left for a lot of the way.
Grumeti is a cert to place I agree. Christ knows what wins though.
February 29, 2012 at 02:49 #394124I think Balder Succes will beat Grumeti if it runs.

Such is the lack of depth in the race, surely King is at least entertaining the idea of running him?
February 29, 2012 at 09:59 #394152I would be astounded if Balder Succes had anything like the pace required to win a Triumph. Astounded. My 2 dead-cert horses to get beat are him and First Lieutenant.

His time at Auteuil was very good for a 3yr old and he’s done things very easily here. I’ve seen how good Grumeti is. Haven’t seen how good Balder Succes is
I realise the TS figure is low but the races he’s been in dictate that.
The horse he beat last time, Captain Sunshine, has to be backed next time.
February 29, 2012 at 10:53 #394158Balder Succes is probably a better long-term prospect than Grumeti. It’s interesting that Thornton has yet to commit to Grumeti, although i think in all probability he eventually will. It’s somewhat reminiscent of Geraghty’s decision last year in the Supreme (admittedly niether are likely as good as Spirit Son/Sprinter Sacre). The ready made horse who will handle conditions versus the unexposed never off the bridle rangy weak horse.
February 29, 2012 at 18:48 #394221It must be quite rare that Timeform’s top-rated 4-y-o, two weeks before the meeting, is a 20/1 chance for his target race, The Triumph
Urbain De Sivola
February 29, 2012 at 19:04 #394226I’d have to agree with J17. As good as Balder Succes has looked, his future probably lies over fences, and King and Choc’s better Triumph option lies with Grumeti. After all the dust has settled after last weekend, I honestly can’t look past him for this now.

Nick seems to be saying in the previews I’ve read that he’ll run him only if the ground is on the soft side. I can only presume that is the reason for the inflated price.
March 2, 2012 at 00:14 #394421Urbain De Sivola needs 2m 4f already. This is (yet) another case of horses winning by a mile over a trip and people immediately coming to the conclusion that he must be a monster, when in actual fact all they’ve done is outstayed everything else.
I would absolutely love to see the ratio of 15L+ novice chase/hurdle winners who turn out to be utterly useless.
I imagine it would be extremely similar to the ratio of 5L+ maiden winners who turn out to be utterly useless.
March 2, 2012 at 02:52 #394435Grumeti. THE Triumph weekend has passed, the form has been studied and the trends have been checked. Grumeti.
Absolutely nailed.

Hard to see past. Has the King stable said whether they do intend to run Balder Success?
March 2, 2012 at 14:04 #394509I said Lyvius wasnt going to be good enough. Not bred for it and that German form is poor. Strange purchase for Trevor Hemmings
