there will be varying results as per how we each conduct the system, perhaps even though this should not be so but only today you have clarified the C4 & C3 ruling. A misunderstanding perhaps on your part thinking we are intelligent
Tomorrow we (the ordinary folk) will face a new Class dilemma: –
Newmarket 2.45 Class 3 Novice, 1mile with 9 declared
Pontefract 4.15 Class 2 Handicap over 1m 2 f with 8 declared.
Because there is a class 3 we will NOT consider any C4 races but for the very first time we are faced with a C2 race and on this day do we only consider C2’s or do we consider anything C3 and better?
I do hope you will understand the gist of the question but being past my bedtime not all the components of my brain are functioning in order.

September 21, 2011 at 23:06 #371611I’m sorry Bill, but the original rules made it abundantly clear that you only drop to Class 4 if there are no selections in Class 3 or under….. I think that you may be drinking a bit too much….. I have copied and pasted the original posting below and have marked the appropriate rule thus… ###
And by using the plural (races) would mean that ALL races at Class 3 or higher would be qualifying races, so if there are class 1, class 2 and class 3 races on the same day, however many, then they ALL become qualifying races……15 Sep 2011 15:12
OK girls, this system used to be called The Golden Goose but it has been modified several times to keep up to date…. the idea was to get a shortlist of horses together and then make selections from that "knot" of horses, I took it a step further (rightly or wrongly) and decided to curtail the time spent on further analysis, so I started betting the selections by dutching…… but this is the basic system…..Handicap races only (inc Nurseries) with 10 runners or less…..
###Selected races should be Class 3 or above but if no selection from these, drop down to Class 4…..###
All selected races to be 7 furlongs or more…..
From the applicable races, note down the FIRST 4 in the betting forecast taken from the Racing Post…..
Nip over to Betfair and also note down the prices of your 4 selections that are quoted at the time…..
Now discard any races where your shortest price is LESS than 3.50….
Any races that are left will have 4 selections (the first 4 in the betting according to the RP) with a minimum price of 3.50….. we only intend to "dutch" 3 of these, so a further selection must be discarded…. firstly we kick out any selection where the price is in double figures, we then "dutch" the remaining 3 selections….
If ALL 4 selections are under 10.00 in Betfair, we still have to discard one, so we boot out the shorter priced selection…… sounds complicated but it’s quite simple and very quick….. for examples, look below….. all prices were taken at about 1.00pm and probably bear no resemblance to BSP…..September 21, 2011 at 23:17 #371612and further to the previous posting, if you stick to the rules, the selections should all be the same, it would be absolutely pointless for me to stick a method up whereby everybody selects a different horse……
Go back to the rules above…. the very last line tells you that I go on and collect the prices at 1.00pm from Betfair (give or take half an hour), but looking at what you and elc are doing, you appear to be going on as early as 10.00am and I doubt if your using Betfair….. if your getting different selections to me, then you are NOT using the method as laid down above….. I know that I said that everyone should have a play and look at it to see if they can improve it, but when doing so, don’t blame me cos you got it wrong….
When I’m at the P/C I put the selections up, and it will be at about 1.00pm or sometime after, if I’m not here, the member will have to fend for themselves, but if the rules are adhered to, they can’t go far wrong….. I hope that clears the muddy waters a tad….

INTELLIGENCE
Is defined as having the ability to learn and acquire and apply knowledge and skills.
You are taking it on trust we are "Intelligent" and most sincereley I thank you from the very bottom of my heart for the compliment – you are a very nice man
I am a free spirit (I wish) and do love to play around with ideas and thus, harsh though your words are there is a ring of truth, I have been known to divert from the path of fulfilment and knowledge . . . . .

.
How goes it? And the lovely "Grottbags" I trust is well.
Are you having a "bash" at this one as well?
It looks like there is a shilling or two to be made with it but am not booking my winter trip "Down-under" just yet and at 50p a go I may have to wait a while.

September 22, 2011 at 10:13 #371624Not had a bash on this particular method but did win a few quid the other day by backing a danger to my selection after reading through this thread.

September 22, 2011 at 12:01 #371638Hi MrE,
Yes I have been playing around with The GG to small stakes as I’m an inveterate fiddler and I’m keen on some action most days.
Agreeing entirely with your choice of race type and number of runners and using that criteria as a basis for my selections I’ve been looking at what sort of results can be achieved using class 4 and 5 races also using the bet365 market rather than Betfair.
I was encouraged on Monday by your post (below) which yielded winners at 9/1 and 11/1 and also a 119/1 cross double although, as you very correctly state, neither was a GG qualifier.
Henceforth, if I post my selections I shall make it clear on what criteria they are based to avoid any confusion.
Meanwhile, thanks again MrE for starting this interesting and, so far, profitable thread…it’s just a pity that it hasn’t attracted a greater response.
SteveHello….. there are no selections in Classes 1 to 4 today….. if you feel the need to play, or you want to keep records, you might want to drop to Class 5, I won’t get involved personally because I have other things to spend my money on, so today’s results will NOT go on record, but for those of you that want to follow them, we have two Class 5 races for today…..

September 22, 2011 at 12:08 #371642Good afternoon Bill….. nah mate, I wasn’t getting hot under the collar at all, in fact it made me chuckle a bit….. if there are smilies anywhere in my posts, then I’m usually OK and still taking the tablets….. I always expected there to be queries until everything got a bit clearer…… I have to admit to a shadow of disappointment though, we’re only at Day 4 and our views have gone from 400 to over 1000, but we still have the same posters…. fillychick, Nagwawhatever, Nathan, Elc, Bully, Matron and me, I’m sure that the system section contains more than "The Magnificent Seven" (with apologies to anyone that I’ve forgotten)…..

September 22, 2011 at 12:57 #371648Hi Matron, I don’t want you, or anybody, to misunderstand me….. I’m not on an ego trip and the last thing that I want is a bucketload of "well done’s"…. you know the same as the next man, that I’ll be here one minute and long gone the next, I get bored easy, but in passing through, I would have liked to get the system section all fired up again….. it was a fantastic forum a few years ago with the likes of Urban Dave, Snowman, Robotica, Dazzler, Dave (Sister) Jay, all these guys and more always bringing something fresh into the mix and that produced a lot of profitable methods….. so how do we get the most profitable part of TRF up and motivated again, it’s not much good just sticking tips up, none of the members can bring anything to the table with just tips, it needs to be a system/method that the members can improve upon or rip apart…..
Elcy baby is doing just that, I suppose Bully is doing the same in his own little way (bless him), but it needs a few more members sticking their bit in to make this work……I don’t want to make this post too long because Billy has problems reading more than one paragraph, his attention span is severely limited, I think it’s that Australian gumbo that he keeps drinking….. I’ll write another "windy" missive when I come back on later because I think the "lurkers" are missing the point…. and missing a fantastic opportunity to actually make some money from this instead of just thinking about it…..

September 22, 2011 at 13:34 #371650I thing everything has changed with regards to "forums".
People are now using "Twitter, Facebook, etc." – I think it will be sometime before the number of people return after getting bored with latest "social networking" fad.
