A terrible day for the yard – three in the one race at Huntingdon and nothing in the first 6 home !
3 runners over fences in February – Last, Pulled Up and 81 lengths second.God knows what’s going on at Seven Barrows.
February 11, 2016 at 17:50 #1233126Truly appalling from the Henderson yard today.
There must be a bug in the yard as I’ve never seen anything quite so poor, in regards to recent form.
He has another 9 running tomorrow and if he doesn’t get a winner or 2, I will assume that there is something Henderson isn’t telling the public.February 11, 2016 at 19:54 #1233141That would be a first…
February 13, 2016 at 21:20 #1233551Another bad day for the yard.
7 different jockeys used in the last two days.
February 14, 2016 at 10:56 #1233592I’ve always been a big Henderson fan but even I’m now having my doubts. I like to think that nearly every horse has a bad day but this seems to be happening more frequently

I’m with you on that Rob, I’m not into bashing Henderson, he’s been a top trainer
for too long not to be one now, but there have been some surprising results, Peace
and Co and L’Ami Serge being the most obvious. No mention of the horses being under
the weather, so I don’t know.I think with better conditions you are going to see the Henderson yard perk up, he’s
never been a Venetia Williams type trainer. It wouldn’t surprise me if he had a good

Cheltenham.Trying to find a positive, Henderson’s last two winners of the Champion Hurdle have came at good prices (Punjabi in particular). So, taking that into consideration, there’s still a glimmer of hope that he could pull off more of the same. I mean, look at Binocular … he was the outsider of the three Henderson runners in the 2010 Champion (after losing his sparkle) but turned up to run out an impressive winner.
As you say, should the weather take a turn for the good come Cheltenham, then maybe we could see a resergence.

February 14, 2016 at 16:48 #1233653Imagine Chelsea or Arsenal not signing any midfielders or strikers for a couple of seasons and having to field teams consisting mostly of defenders. That’s what’s happened with the Henderson team – the lack of handicap and staying chasers is astonishing.
For so many prestigious and lucrative races to pass by without a Henderson runner…well, it’s ludicrous. I realise some of it is partly due to owners and the horses they buy but the planning and management at Seven Barrows since about 2012 has been poor. It might be due to some exceptional assistants leaving to start their own training careers but Henderson is no mug, although he does allow certain aspects of National Hunt racing ( like the ground / weather ) to annoy him more than it does Mullins, Nicholls or Hobbs.
The big yards should have horses for almost every event, almost every eventuality but there are gaping holes in the racing calendar at Seven Barrows. You will very rarely see Nicholls allow Henderson to have free reign in a race with a decent pot on offer and yet the Ditcheat team are regularly allowed to mop up prize money at some big tracks unopposed with not a Henderson horse in sight. The Badger Ales, the Holden Gold Cup, anything at Aintree before April and even some of the big handicaps at Ascot, Newbury and Sandown.
