Anyone remember the first meetings at Great Leighs? Everyone was congratulating the track on the wonderful surface and the quality of racing. The industry shows coming through from there seemed to be set by one guy who’d taken a snapshot of the BF market 20 mins before the off and copied all the spoofed out ricks. Hell, they even had the odd sixteen runner handicap there!

    Didn’t take long did it?
    – bookmakers licences set at 10k+ a year, so that only those whose main interests are off-course will stand there so they can set rotten prices.
    – entrance and catering costs set at a level that would ensure an empty grandstand if they had a proper grandstand. Of course they don’t – that might strengthen the on-course market.
    – ‘goodwill gestures’ made to jockeys in reducing field size limits to 14 so they get time to organize themselves on the bends (the widest in the country)
    – a winter of dross Thursady evenings lined up for the bookies, so said books can justify keeping their shops open for the zombie machine players

Another BAGS track at the opposite end of the M25 from Kempton.

Glenn…I’m sure you’ve done this already, but don’t forget to go on the Great Leighs site and register for their online mailing list to receive a comp ticket for 19th June (and it’s a Thursday).

Thurday evenings will henceforth be known as "Uefa Cup Thursday" in the Cavelino household.

Wonder how many non runners we’ll have at Royal Ascot next week? The fingers from one hand should suffice.

Yes Glen you are spot on , dont ever stop mate , the dross machine will kill our game eventually , can you possibly imagine the young punters of today who do actually bet on horses will have their interest sustained by the constant barrage of polytrack 0-60 and worse

but Hey nobody cares its all part of the show must go on , the bookies must be sated , the levy must be fattened , but unfortunately in my view it will be short lived , anyone who thinks bags racing will prosper is simply in cloud cuckoo land

who can stop it ??? because it badly needs halting

    Ricky
