As this is a thread with a nautical theme has anyone heard of Alexander Selkirk, on whom Robinson Crusoe was based? I heard about him on a tv programme the other night. Fascinating story [can’t do a link for it though].

We’ve decided not to go because of all the work that’s being done there; starting to regret it though as I’ve gone to one of the three/four days every year going back as far as I can remember. We may change our mind. We’re going to the Arc again though. I was wondering about Selkirk [the horse] as well. Just imagine being dropped off at a desert island expecting a ship to pass by only to have to wait 4 years [and I bet two turned up at once ]…

Longchamp is a bit of a crazy gaff …empty for 99 per cent of the year …but on arc weekend , all the nutters come out to play …plus a shed load of brits try the tote for a bit of co mingling /…lol

Its a good weekend though . the saturday racing is brilliant , and you have the gaff to yerself !!!cest magnifique
