Pierre Bonnard – 10/1
This good looking son of Camelot stood out in the paddock at Newmarket today and went on to be an easy winner of the Zetland over stable companion Endorsement. AOB has another future champion on his hands.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 12, 2025 at 10:30 #1741877Hard to tell how good he is as soumillions lovely riding style always makes it look smooth. He must have improved a ton in the last week or so as it looked like he was going to ride endorsement. Perfect profile for next years Derby. Staying pedigree with plenty of toe. With wootton bassett gone id hope a few of the top galileo mares might go to camelot and also starspangled banner as they have shown that they can get very good horses with the right mares.
October 12, 2025 at 11:33 #1741884I would say Endorsement is more of a Guineas prospect and Pierre Bonnard as you say Mickey for the Derby.
We were lucky enough to be standing by the shoot as they enter the parade ring at Newmarket and Pierre Bonnard was walked in first directly followed by Endorsement where it was clear to see that he had the stayers profile long in the body and Endorsement behind him smaller and closer cropped. Both outstanding horses but can see why Soumillion swapped rides.
Ryan Moore was there with ‘the lads’ overseeing pre race procedures but Soumillion is doing such a great job you couldn’t blame him for feeling anxious.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 12, 2025 at 12:07 #1741891I got the impression Pierre Bonnard was going to be put way for the Winter rather than run in this when reading post race comments.
October 12, 2025 at 13:46 #1741907Your probably right Mike I didn’t catch AOB’S post race interview..but he’s definitely worth a freebet EW at that price as AOB usually finalises plans closer to the day.
Whatever happens he’s an exciting prospect for next year.

Gosden, Beckett, Balding and Keatley one eachGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 20, 2025 at 21:22 #1742650As things stand, Item will be my pick.
October 20, 2025 at 23:46 #1742667Yes saw he was still entered up Nathan…it would be nice to sign off the season with a Group 1 under his belt so I’ll stick my freebet on him at 14/1 EW – Pierre Bonnard
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 21, 2025 at 14:09 #1742692Ghost – connections confirm that Item won’t run if the ground is testing and the Racing Post is quoting the ground at Doncaster as currently soft (heavy in places).
Personally, I would also have thought that Pierre Bonnard would be better suited to the G1 Criterium at Saint Cloud which is over 10F – also, on a form line through Endorsement, PB has a bit to find with Benvenuto Cellini (who beat Endorsement further whilst also giving him 5lbs) and it would also be a relatively quick turnaround from the Newmarket race.
October 21, 2025 at 22:07 #1742715Cheers for the info LD73
October 23, 2025 at 16:32 #1742773Seems like Item’s connections have decided to go against their own words as he has been declared to run even though Doncaster’s own website is quoting the ground as ‘heavy’ as at 14:56 this afternoon

O’Brien has half of the field but he is upstaged by Frankel who’s offspring make up two thirds of the runners in the race.
October 23, 2025 at 21:32 #1742796Item’s parents (Frankel and Capla Temptress) have both won on soft. So I don’t blame the connections for taking their chance. The horse might well handle it.
Part of me also thinks that Balding can’t resist a shot at the Dewhurst/Futurity double.October 24, 2025 at 16:34 #1742837Item a non runner.
The more I know the less I understand.
October 24, 2025 at 20:56 #1742861Is you is or is you ain’t? Yo-yo owners
October 24, 2025 at 23:34 #1742882With my original horse a non runner now taking a chance on..
Oxagon – 11/2
No chance in the Dewhurst with Gewan at Newmarket last time but he looked well in himself in the paddock that day and had a fair bit of support on course.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 25, 2025 at 13:50 #1742958Backed Hawk Mountain at 7/2.
October 25, 2025 at 14:02 #1742963As mentioned elsewhere the fav’s beating of Endorsement in Killarney must have been character building stuff which he should draw on in this slog – I’ll stick with the barge!
