Get in.
Got over the stepping stone half fit.

November 30, 2013 at 14:37 #460388Decent enough effort from the winner, but nothing new learned there.
November 30, 2013 at 14:40 #460389You’ve learnt that Melodic Rendezvous can’t hold a candle to MTOY!
November 30, 2013 at 15:01 #460392He’s a strong traveller as we know but he looked to have matured in the way he settled and didn’t pull at all even although still a tad keen. Henderson will be delighted with that run.

November 30, 2013 at 16:11 #460406Young Lad: you should have learned not to over rate a horse for appearing to run a very good race when in fact he only beat a staying hurdler, MR ran against proper horses today and struggled badly, to my eye he needs soft to be at his best.
Thank you 365 for kindly offering me 14s for my favourite little mare and also the BOG for the FC
– great dayNovember 30, 2013 at 18:56 #460418On today’s evidence, MTOY well worth laying on jumping alone. He won’t be placed in the CH jumping like that. Jezki’s hurdling is a razor – MTOY’s a sledgehammer (on today’s display)
November 30, 2013 at 21:01 #460430To be fair people were saying similar last season before the Supreme.
" Flat track bridle horse "November 30, 2013 at 21:40 #460439Hey, I did say My Tent Or Yours would probably win this race. I also believe he will win the Christmas Hurdle.
There are still 5 or 6 horses I would rather back at Cheltenham, though. Since I believe he can only win races on the bridle, there is no chance that he will get that luxury at Cheltenham.
It was a very poor effort from M.R. – no doubt about that. It was probably too bad to be true, but still hard to forgive without a good reason.
Jezki fans – could one of you explain the logic? Is he not 10-15lbs short of the best hurdlers?

Joe,what
MTOY
really needs is a fast even gallop excuse the Aiden O’Brien pun and he never got that today, the faster they go the easier he’ll settle,he can beat inferior horses on the bridle pulling like a train and get away with it off a slow pace,he wont be able to do that in a Champion hurdle but hopefully wont have too as the clock generally records 3m 51secs on good ground and he has the engine to do just that. What seperates him from others is he handles any ground so even soft ground wont stop him,he’ll do what
Darlan
did last year except avoid Doncaster and will avenge his stable companions sad demise and win the Champion hurdle.Today showed he’s filled out,he looks class aswell as travels like class,he jumped flat only once today but that only shows he’s still learning and if he’s doing that he’s improving.AP played him down slightly today but he went to Newcastle because he knows he’s a Champion hurdler,he would have done the same last year too had ‘Darlan’ turned up.

Can’t see MTOY being able to deal with The New One’s turn of foot once they come into the home straight, TNO will be sent past My Tent or Yours and will be 2-3 lengths clear before the Henderson horse has a chance to react and by that time the lead will only increase.
MTOY didn’t find a lot off the bridle today and that will be his downfall come March.
December 1, 2013 at 02:11 #460466Gord, he has a fine engine and is a classy traveller indeed, but he’s a relatively poor jumper of hurdles for a CH aspirant. It’s not his ‘flat’ jumping that catches my eye so much as his lack of fluency at almost every one – he makes a poor shape, and must be taking a fair bit out of himself.
He was the same last year, and I expected to see improvement today. I’m being called a madman on twitter for suggesting that AP might even get off him for Jezki. But Jezki will take a minimum of a length out of MTOY at most hurdles – probably more. Count that up over 8 jumps and add the energy Jezki will save.
I’m not saying Jezki will win it, but I’d bet him to finish ahead of MTOY. The New One should beat them both, Our Conor could still be anything (another fine jumper). The Fly ain’t dead yet and Mullins’ other pair might yet be much shorter come the day.
December 1, 2013 at 10:13 #460481Why would he want to get off My Tent Or Yours to ride a horse he has already beaten quite comfortably? Jezki two trips to Cheltenham and two defeats, in fact his only defeats.
However well My Tent Or Yours jumps and travels I suspect there is always going to be at least one horse coming up that Cheltenham hill that bit quicker.
December 1, 2013 at 10:52 #460484Fair comments from SC and Stilvi.
I’ve put Jezki in a couple of ante post bets because it has a big chance at the odds anyway but i think if AP were to switch, the price would plummet and it’s chances would be increased.
Robbie Power’s a good jockey but fares better over fences. The horse has been beaten twice at Cheltenham but he doesn’t dislike the course. 3rd in the Supreme is good form and he stayed on again after that slight error at the last.
December 1, 2013 at 12:33 #460491Well done MTOY backers, won very well. Will The New One be in opposition in the Christmas Hurdle?
December 1, 2013 at 22:00 #460544I am very impressed. I backed MR in full confidence.
I will not back against MTOY again until beaten.

Joe,thats an interesting observation you make about his shape at his hurdles.I watched the field constantly circling at the start and I couldn’t help but be impressed with ‘MTOY’s’ prescence,he actually looks like a chaser. My impression of the horse is that he’s improving physically rapidly but mentally he’s not and I still see an immature character, that in itself tells me he can only get better as the penny drops, his jumping style is definitely still novicey at times but again this fellows built to jump fences so hurdles should be a doddle.I still watch his race against ‘The New One’ at Aintree and I remember thinking then that Jonjo’s horse had the most scope for improvement, trouble is ‘Twisters’ charge has developed at a rate of knots too,the 9lb back then is still 7lb in favour of ‘The New One’ and he imo is the only threat to my fellow winning the Champion hurdle. Two serious horses.
December 2, 2013 at 12:43 #460574Are we being a little harsh on him with regard to his mental attitude. Already won a big handicap and went well in cheltenham. Looked generally more accomplished than Atfisherscross or Jezki over his obstacles.
Needs to improve though as does Jezki.
