Melodic Rendezvous and Grumeti make interesting opposition for My Tent or Yours who on his seasonal debut could be vulnerable as in previous years gone by Binocular with the same connections didn’t always run his best race first time up so fitness could catch him cold. It is however a big positive that AP makes the trip to ride MTOY turning down World Hurdle hopeful At Fishers Cross as well as a ride in the Hennessy at Newbury. Melodic Rendezvous looked good the other day but Far West did little to boost the form next time out.
The Winner – My Tent or Yours on the bridle and will come on a ton for the run……

November 26, 2013 at 19:13 #459879Nathan, hope he wins for you, but wouldn’t be too downbeat if he’s found wanting for fitness at the business end. Wouldn’t be a total shock. Whatever happens, as you say, he’ll come on for the run, and it’s all about March.
There’s divided opinion on Melodic Rendevouz, and even though Far West got stuffed at the weekend, I wouldn’t read that too literally, as visually, he looked very nice at Wincanton.
Doubt all the entries will trap, as it normally cuts up, so you’ll probably only have another 2 or 3 to worry about.
The one I do like at a price is
Cockney Sparrow
, who’s still available at 14’s. He’s a horse going the right way, and though he’ll only be 5 next year, I think he’ll become a genuine Champion Hurdle contender in the near future. Wanted to bet him last time out, but was too short for me. Really liked the way he put the race to bed last time, and might throw him into an Mug 15 with other weekend fancies, but apart from that, it’ll be a no-bet race for me. Just one to enjoy.
Good Luck
November 26, 2013 at 23:13 #459917I’d rather it didn’t cut up as I can see MTOY pulling hard if it’s a muddling sort of affair. Plenty of reasons to be taking him on but I’ll be disappointed if he loses.

November 27, 2013 at 10:05 #459934I am not a fan of My Tent Or Yours at all. I don’t understand why the media have not cottoned-on to his attitude problems. He is Harchibald mark II.
To my eyes, he dogs it as soon as he comes off the bridle.
Aintree Bumper
– travelled well and found nothing when challenged by The New One.
Ascot Novices’ Hurdle
– thought twice about putting Taquin De Seuil away. Again travelled like he would win by 20 lengths, then did not quicken when ridden.
Supreme
– again travelled best before being seen-off by a horse who wanted it more.
Even so, it takes a very good horse and a decent pace to push him to the limit like that. I love Melodic Rendezvous, but think he needs to force the pace here to stand a chance. He won’t beat My Tent Or Yours in a speed test. I’m hoping My Tent Or Yours wins this on the bridle (how else can he win?), then gets shortened to silly prices for the Champion Hurdle so I can get stuck into some laying.

Yeah, quoting top notch bumper form against a Neptune winner proves this supposed lack of "determination"
As does being beaten into 2nd in the Supreme against an excellent horse. Champagne Fever didn’t want it more, he’s a horse, not a human (jesus christ), he was simply the better horse on the day.
Beating Tarquin by a couple of lengths … the horror.
It’s like when people called Harchibald a dog, as if to say he was leaving stuff behind. News flash ; he was probably going as fast as he could.
November 27, 2013 at 20:44 #460009Don’t let TAPK hear you slagging off one of his main hopes for the season! This lot won’t get close to him, Champion Hurdle is another story however.

I agree with this. Perhaps he was more genuine than most as he didn’t need the pilots encouragement to run as fast as he could?
November 28, 2013 at 16:42 #460089I am not denying that My Tent Or Yours is very high class and probably has more speed than any hurdler in training right now. He just doesn’t quicken under pressure. Especially with his strange head-carriage, that suggests a poor attitude to me…
My Tent Or Yours can only win races on the bridle. Give me The New One, a blinkered Zarkandar, maybe even Hurricane Fly, Annie Power, Our Conor or Melodic Rendezvous at Cheltenham. There are at least 6 horses I’d back to turn him over.
Feel free to disagree of course, but I think this season will expose the horse’s frailties more and more with every race.
November 29, 2013 at 19:27 #460197I tend to agree with TYF, I think Melodic Rendezvous will win tomorrow he has the benefit of a run already this season and is no mug, MTOY may just need this.
November 29, 2013 at 20:13 #460205Like most of you, Melodic Rendezvous is my favorite for this race. He was quite good lately at Wincanton, and he will be interesting to watch here for the next Champion Hurdle.
I don’t really believe in My Tent Or Yours. I might be wrong but it’s just a question of feeling. He might lack one race.
Then for the third place I would say Cockney Sparrow, an interesting gutsy young mare. She probably doesn’t have all the required experience, but his win in a Listed-Race at Wetherby caught my attention.November 29, 2013 at 22:30 #460220I wouldn’t entertain My Tent Or Yours for a Champion Hurdle – to do that you would have to believe Champagne Fever could win one – but unless either AP tries anything cute or Henderson sends him out massively undercooked he should be too good for these. Melodic Rendezvous has progressed at his own level but let’s face it the likes of Pendra, Puffin Billy and most recently Far West have hardly enhanced his form.
November 30, 2013 at 00:20 #460255Spotlight on My Tent Or Yours chances for tomorrow
there is a slight suspicion he´s ideally suited by flatter tracks
Bit early for the Christmas drinks, Steve Boow.
November 30, 2013 at 08:06 #460277The supreme was run on soft and Champagne Fever is a good horse, to go down half a length is not too shabby, he travelled well enough but was keen enough with it. I think considering the running style and how fast MTOY is quicker ground is his ideal conditions and shows how good he is that he can put up solid runs on any ground. The horse has the potential to progress again this season and will need to if he’s going to win the Champion but it’s a good possibility imo.

The ground on that opening day at the Festival was expected to be soft and given as such but the time would suggest it was nearer good than soft. My Tent Or Yours had every chance and was outstayed.

My thoughts too, on Melodic Rendezvous EW ante post at 3/1.
November 30, 2013 at 14:04 #460379It’s a shot in the dark but Grumeti shouldn’t have been the 12-1 he was this morning.
I’d fancy Melodic Rendezvous to finish ahead of MTOY today.

Terrible analysis from Spotlight.
