It’s be hopes Hamoody improves Trackside. He’ll need to by at least a stone get in the first 3.
October 14, 2006 at 15:10 #79805One things for sure this looks like the best dewhurst in a few years now, hopefully a sign of a great season next year.
October 14, 2006 at 15:15 #79806Oh well. Maybe it was a two horse race :(
October 14, 2006 at 15:15 #79807everything went wrong for teofilo there and he still won what was a very good dewhurst, an absolute indisputable champion 2yo, looks like the champion of everything next year.
October 14, 2006 at 15:17 #79808What a race. This winner could be something else. Thought he was done but he found more when he had to. Race of the season for me.
October 14, 2006 at 15:19 #79809Hold my hands up, I underestimated Holy Roman Emperor. Cracking race, two high-class colts than pulled nicely clear on the Vintage winner.
October 14, 2006 at 15:21 #79810Agreed marget man – Possibly the race of the year, either George Washingtons two or that, it was electric!
October 14, 2006 at 15:29 #79811Cracking race. Both the first and second met trouble but were clearly streets ahead of the opposition. I was relieved to see Teofilo win for economic reasons but I thought HRE was the moral victor having enjoyed a less than vintage Kinane ride (assuming that his orders were not ‘get into as much trouble as you can and find yourself stone last two out with the whole field to weave through’).
Could we have a Brigadier Gerard and Mill Reef situation on our hands?
October 14, 2006 at 15:32 #79812cannot wait for the guineas next year 2 outstanding colts if only mick k had held his place hre would of won
Possible. These two are clearly very good. I’d add Dutch Art to the equation and give us a Brigadier Gerard, Mill Reef and My Swallow. Here’s hoping.
I don’t agree with any notion that Holy Roman Emperor was unlucky as soon as he came to take Teofilo the winner found more was clearly idling a bit to me.
Teofilo is crying out for a longer trip in my opinion.
October 14, 2006 at 15:34 #79814Teofilo was not suited by being slowly away, but he recovered and boy did he recover. That would have to be a high 120s performance IMO. A great race to watch, a great horse that won.
October 14, 2006 at 15:39 #79815i cant see how teofilo was unlucky hre was the one who made up 3/4 lenghts after having less than a clear passage he just got tired in the last stride or 2

October 14, 2006 at 15:43 #79777The time of the race was marginally quicker than the Challenge Stakes.
October 14, 2006 at 15:46 #79816Horatio Nelson 123+
Sir Percy 122+
George Washington 118p
Last year’s Timeform top rated two year olds –
Where would you have today’s pair.
For me
Teofilo 126+
Holy Roman Emperor 125+
October 14, 2006 at 15:48 #79817HRE is a double group1 winning 2yo, lets face it, if there wasnt a far superior horse on the scene he’d be a quadruple Group1 winning 2yo.
Teofilo had to get a prominent position early and had to make up that ground when breaking slowly (which finishes most horses off early). HRE was more suited to coming from off the pace and never had anything unsuited to trouble his style of running, he definitely wasnt unlucky, he passed Teofilo at one point but teofilo was always holding him, what a battler, if he trains on at 3 (which he should) teofilos stud value will be huge, he has everything.
October 14, 2006 at 15:53 #79818Timeforms head must be up his hoop if he didnt rate GWs phoenix win higher than Horatio and sir p. That was the 2yo performance of the season last year.
I’d give teofilo 127+
HRE 123
October 14, 2006 at 15:54 #79819What a race, absolutely fantastic.
HRE did alot better than I thought he would but Teofilo really is a beauty isnt he?
In saying all that if the ground is rattling fast in the Guineas he could be vunerable to a colt with a decent turn of foot, though I doubt it will be HRE. Teofilo certainly the horse to beat
