Cant disagree in regards to whos more stoutly bred for it kev, but roaring lions sire kittens joy (from the sadlers wells line) was a grade 1 winner at 12f, so he has the breeding to get the distance fine and he shown that yesterday,he hit the line running on over 10.5 the same way SW did over 8, not suggesting for one minute that SW isnt capable of romping the derby, but my own personal way of punting on the race is finding something i know wants the distance rather than potentially wanting the distance, the 60s on offer two days ago for RL appealed alot more than 1.88 on SW (even the odds currently should be closer)

so yeah, odds definitely clouding my judgement on this one, SW win or lose, is way, wayyy to short atm. At this moment, a deserved fav though.

Trouble is that RL’s owner sponsors the French Derby. It would be a shame if that fact kept him from what should be a great showdown.

More than reasonable to take on the Fav at the prices, just don’t understand some of the reasoning for it being RL I suppose. Gosden expressing concern for 12F was interesting I thought.

Oh I agree about that Kev, if Saxon can win the Derby, after the speed he showed in the 2000, like I said he’d be one of the all time greats. Jason Weaver said exactly the same thing this morning on the opening show. He actually said he’d be the ‘best ever’ if he could win the Derby after showing that speed.

I won a lovely amount when he glided through the 2000. I’m hoping I’ll also win a considerable amount laying him for the Derby at odds on.

He’s going to have to be a superstar to do it IMO, he is, but at 1m or maybe 1m2f. Not 1m4f at down hill Epsom in a true run Derby, again in my opinion.

Deep Impact has a stamina index of 10.1f. Most of his best horses are 1m2f horses, far, far more milers, than two milers. His mother Maybe was a patent non stayer at 1m4f too. If Galileo was the sire, he’d probably be a shoe in pedigree wise. But, Galileo could not make Maybe get the 1m4f. The stamina is going to have to come from Deep Impact, who gets a hell of a lot of milers & 1m2f horses.
