It isn’t Youmzain’s form I’d question, but his need to win a 2nd rate GP1 such as the Coronation Cup.
For all his good form prior to last year’s race, his only victory at this level was a poor race in Germany which wouldn’t do much for his stud career, so a CC win would have helped nicely.
That is no longer the case this year, and I can’t see him even being seriously trained for it.TAPK
No smart-ass – I’m not the one that’s doing the braying!
May 17, 2009 at 21:11 #228301Good to see Youmzain being supported Ante-post in recent days, 3/1 now
my 9/2 feels much better! Reet dont give up betting as you do have a bit of
knowledge in there somewhere!May 17, 2009 at 21:54 #228316Youmzain is the stand out horse at present, although Ask will probably come on nicely for the run even more, and didn’t disgrace himself in The Arc but he would have something to find obviously.
Look Here would love to go back to Epsom and win again but I think Youmzain would be too tough.
May 17, 2009 at 22:51 #228341Surely Eastern Anthem has the better form coming into this?
Youmzain only has a chance of winning if the word "soft" appears in the going description. He won’t win if it’s good or quicker and should be taken on.
As an ante post proposition this is not a very tempting race.

Whats your idea of a tempting Ante-post race then Aragorn?

Presumably when participation is, to some degree, predictable, there are plentiful options and an angle in to a decent price, and the shortening favourite isn’t a complete head-case (or, for me, trained by Mick Channon).
May 17, 2009 at 23:23 #228358One where the form is a little more settled.
Cheltenham is a good AP proposition because the markets have decent liquidity, targets are generally predictable and about two months prior to the festival you have a decent idea of the pecking orders. That’s when you can really get some value.
Right now the only middle distance older horse (4yo plus) form we have is a few G3 races run in the UK and Ireland, last years form and the normally slightly dubious Dubai form.
The "throw enough shite against the wall and something will eventually stick" strategy is not one for me.
May 20, 2009 at 03:21 #228879Look Here is an extremely attractive betting prospect at 7/1 IMO. I don’t think it was her quality that won her the Oaks last season. Seems impossible to me that she was able to improve so much from being beaten in the Oaks Trial to winning the Oaks so impressively.
I think she loves Epsom and will end up being a Warrsan-type runner – winning the Coronation Cup and struggling to win anywhere else.
June 5, 2009 at 19:45 #232206Dear oh dear, just watched the recording of the race and 1st impressions
are Youmzain is a "Jibber" he should have gone a length clear at one point,
but refused to pass Ask, his ears were twitching and yet again he loses a race he should have won!June 5, 2009 at 19:58 #232209Wow Youmzain….the Harchibald of the flat. Just wants to throw it away all the time.

What a crock Wallace. How did he throw it away? He ran a great race against a very good horse who at the top of his form handled the unsuitable ground a tiny bit better.
June 5, 2009 at 22:53 #232244Garbage about Youmzain – if anything threw it away it was Look Here seemingly stopping when she hit the front.
June 13, 2009 at 17:47 #11737The race of the meeting.
It’s sure to inflate the price of a horse like Rainbow View or Cuis Ghaire.
I’m thinking Ghanaati as favourite but an onslaught of money for Elusive Wave follows.
A cracking contest.
June 13, 2009 at 17:49 #233692However, are French horses usually ignored across the Channel (Sea-Bird), or am I imagining that?
June 13, 2009 at 19:37 #233705Really looking forward to this.
3 1000 Guineas winner, an ‘unlucky’ horse in Rainbow View, a Bolger hot pot among many others.
Lush Lashes’ demolition job in this last year is still firmly in my mind and, somewhat foolishy, I’m wanting to take Ghanaati on here.
Cuis Ghaire put up a credible performance here last year albeit at a shorter distance and she’s definitely on my shortlist on better ground that the Irish 1000.
I can’t have Again at all unless the rain falls despite Ryan Moore being booked and, despite Rouget’s hotstreak of a year, I’m probably going to give Elusive Wave a miss.
At 6/1 (current exchange price) I’m extremley interested by Rainbow View. If the Ascot boys keep the ground from going extremley firm she’ll be in with a big shout in my opinion.
I always like to go with one that may not has shown their true potential on a start or two before this and Rainbow View has certainly done that. Her best 2yo performance was arguably seeing off Fantasia in the Fillies Mile here and if she produces anywhere near that she could ‘do a Lush Lashes’ and hack up here.
It’s a tentative selection but at the prices RV is the best option.
June 13, 2009 at 20:54 #233725Personally I was very impressed by Ghanaati’s performance in the 1000. For such an inexperienced filly to beat that field first time up is some feat and she surely has more in the locker. Wasn’t thrown into the Irish 1000 (sensibly in my opinion) so comes into this fresh and the likely quick going will suit.
Elusive wave rates the main danger for me so i’ll probably have a saver on her.
June 13, 2009 at 22:20 #233740No point in any ante-post bet as the weather might play too significant a part. If the rain stays away I would expect Ghanaati to win. At the time I thought she was the most impressive of two Guineas winners.
