So what is everyones fancy for the end of season showpiece?
Once again the interest will be on GW no doubt. Looks to be a pretty decent race, along with the Dewhurts on the same card.October 15, 2007 at 14:00 #119582George Washington has been taken out.
October 15, 2007 at 14:08 #119586really??? when did that happen? whats up with him?
October 15, 2007 at 14:11 #119588Entries confirmed today. George taken out. Interestingly Mount Nelson still entered.
October 15, 2007 at 14:16 #119591So is that it for the season now as far as GW is concerned or will he get a suprise entry in the Breeders?
October 15, 2007 at 14:17 #119592Might be a good idea to check out Sporting Life, RP or the like and that will answer each and every q you may have about George Washington.

October 15, 2007 at 14:25 #119598ive read sportinglife a few times today but says nothing on why GW isnt running, just says he isnt in the 3 o’brien is sending. and i cant get on racing post at work! apparently its a ‘gambling’ site?!

Superb placement from O’Brien. He looked to relish the demands of the race last year.
October 15, 2007 at 14:31 #119602Story from SL, with details on line up

Andy,
Go to;
Tools – Internet Options – Privacy – Sites
Then in the ‘address of website’ field, type the url for the Racing Post.
Then click on Allow.
This should then allow you to visit the site from your computer at work, unless you work in a company where all the comp’s are networked and the Privacy settings are done from the ‘main’ computer.
Good luck

Mike
October 15, 2007 at 14:46 #119606nope, didnt work. I think its all controlled over the network. Thanks anyway! Probably for the best i cant get on gambling sites as if i was allowed access to Betfair i dont think i would get much work done!
So GW is going for the Classic? I dont think he stands much of a chance if im honest. Ran well enough last year but the dirt didnt seem to go in his favour. Should be interesting none the less. No Invasor this year so could be a little bit more open.
October 15, 2007 at 15:00 #119610Its not on any of the websites. But George is being aimed at the Classic, he will also be entered in the mile but as a second preference behind Excellent Art.
I thought George handled the surface excellently last year and in the Eclipse he seemed to get the 10f well (as he is bred to). As DJ points out, it is not an ideal target for him but if they got a win or even a placing into him it would open his stallion prospects up in America…Coolmore have oodles of sons of Danehill in Ireland and getting George to the States would be a massive bonus.
Also the Classic this year is not very strong, certainly not as strong as last years race.

Now now…..
I think if he was ever going to win over 10f, Saturday might have been his best chance. Its odd that hes not going for it IMO. Seems that they are depserate to prove him at the distance and this really isnt the strongest grp one ever. would love to have seen him win it, but Breeders cup could well leave him with 8 runs on the bounce without a win. Thats hardly impressive is it?
A pity, because hes a fabulously charismatic beast. Loved watching him at his best…
As for the race itself, think its between the Stoute, The godolphin and the french horse myself. Might well be Creach’s first run at 10f, but he looks to be bred for it. Stable flying of course but he was very hard raced (seems to be a Bolger trait) earlier this year and im worried that would still leave its mark. Depends a bit on ground too
Literatos best form is probably the French Derby, but was that really that strong a race?
October 15, 2007 at 15:28 #119617Creachdoir has raced over 10f when in the form of his life and failed to stay….4th to More Wells. I doubt he is good enough or enough stamina.
October 15, 2007 at 15:44 #119619not quite the race i was hoping for having seen the declarations. Shame but being sandwiched between the arc weekend and Breeders Cup its hard to attract the big runners.
October 15, 2007 at 15:50 #119622Ahhh yes…overlooked that.
Yes. And it wasnt that good a race either….
