I have been reading this forum for over 4 years now and it used to be an exciting experience,i would bet between them the big guns on here could find the winner of virtually every big race run.Where are they? Armchair Jockey,Reet Hard,Himself,Grasshopper,Gingertipster,Cheltenham specialist,Gerald,Big Bucks,Irish stamp, these guys always had the skill to contribute knowledgeable posts. As for Fist and TAPK i reckon they had a mutual respect for each other really. This forum has defineately lost its spark and thats a shame as for the past couple of years it was certainly the best read on the internet!
April 15, 2011 at 21:54 #350436I’m still here OSS.
"Knowledgeable"?
You must be thinking of someone else.
To my mind this forum has improved. Far less infighting these days.Value Is EverythingApril 15, 2011 at 22:08 #350441AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716

That depends whether you find blood sports and fisticuffs more sparky that reasoned debate. If you know a better Forum for British Horse Racing, do let us know.

This is the best Racing Forum on the internet.
Good luck finding better.

The following thing tends to happen in horseracing forums:
Great oratorial skills but too few Indians.
Regardless of there being hot argument among members or none at all.
TRF tries to stay above water.
April 15, 2011 at 23:10 #350461A few may have gotten off on the bus-stops along the way but most of those you mention are still on board.
And for every one that’s got off we’ve taken two more on board!
If it’s a Magical Mystery Tour can I be Ivor Cutler?

Nooooooooooooo !
People just vote for their mates, it’d be a clique fest
As it is the forum’s ok……….it’s definitely the second best racing forum on the net
April 16, 2011 at 00:25 #350473This is THE best forum SA.
There are far more knowledgeable people on this forum than that other place.
You can have a debate without the other person taking offence about a difference of opinion.
And you don’t have to bite your tongue, in feer of getting banned!
No clique of moderators ganging up on anyone either.Value Is EverythingApril 16, 2011 at 00:33 #350476Hi ginge !
I like this place for the debates around racing topics, though i rarely post………..
Must get involved more………..
The other forum we post on is more about ‘todays racing’ but this place has the better debates on topics
They compliment each other !

Did anyone ever knew something and hid the info ?
If it is in my powers I always try to help.
To be honest though it occured to me but only once. The name of the horse was Princesse Sophia, 33 to 1.
I found out about it under some rather mysterious circumstances but if I were to tell anyone it would simply go down from 33 to 1 to 12 to 1.Another time also but I was not directly responsible.
I give from telephone line in the 2nd race of the program a 25 to 1 exacta, nap choice.
In the 4th race of the program another 25 to 1 exacta, napped again.
For the 3d race my mate says favourite will lose if you bet any money on it I ‘ll beat you with a stick ! But, he adds, you can’t be allowed to say that from telephone line, so we name it as a selection.
It happened like he said.
So, net result was two 25 to 1s, resulting from unaided effort and the truly queer happening was known but not announced. Those telephone lines were operating in 1997-99.
April 16, 2011 at 00:48 #350478The other forum we post on SA is all about betting (and let’s face it, not many of them know much about that either). Few there are truly interested in racing. Look at the Grand National thread on here, if it were on the other place it would not last 3 pages. And can you imagine people like Richard Hoiles getting involved?(Although may be RH came on to defend his position, more than anything).
Yet another perfectly good thread was closed over there recently because of one person blowing things out of all proportion. Can’t say a thing without someone taking offence. Won’t be using it very often from now on.
Value Is EverythingApril 16, 2011 at 01:13 #350480This forum, like most others, was a lot better a few years ago.
Though I don’t know about the tweeters or facebook users on here. Maybe that side of it is flourishing?
The Lounge used to be very popular, but is now all but dead.
The birthday congrats is a list of people who never post.
Many of the industry guys that used to post hardly ever bother.
The clock, a long time after the time moved forward, is still one hour slow.
That is the end of my

April 16, 2011 at 02:28 #350481The forums got a clock ….!!!!!

Can’t say I know enough about racing or betting to be able to make a valued judgement about any particular forum. least of all this one, but what particularly draws me to sometimes posting here is the immense depth of gardening knowledge exhibited by Drone in the Lounge Section.
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax–
Of cabbages–and kings–
And why the sea is boiling hot–
And whether pigs have wings.""But wait a bit," the Oysters cried,
"Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!"
"No hurry!" said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that."A loaf of bread," the Walrus said,
"Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed–
Now if you’re ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed.""But not on us!" the Oysters cried,
Turning a little blue.
"After such kindness, that would be
A dismal thing to do!"
"The night is fine," the Walrus said.
"Do you admire the view?"It was so kind of you to come!
And you are very nice!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"Cut us another slice:
I wish you were not quite so deaf–
I’ve had to ask you twice!""It seems a shame," the Walrus said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we’ve brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"The butter’s spread too thick!""I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes."O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You’ve had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?’
But answer came there none–
And this was scarcely odd, because
They’d eaten every one.
(With acknowledgement to Jaberwocky.Com)I suppose every Forum has its lurkers, shirkers, workers and fakhirs but, in the passage of time, it’s all but a fleeting moment. Isn’t it?

No clique of moderators ganging up on anyone either.Thats my point Gingertipster, you were one who would debate in the past along with Reet hard and Armchair Jockey, there’s no debating anymore, none with any passion and belief, you and Reet hard had a great thing going,it was harmless but you both put your views over without the arrogance of others i mention.Reet hard and Armchair Jockey were brilliant in dealing with Fist and TAPK and all contributed regularly with passion and excellent knowledge,i certainly enjoyed reading all.
