The most impressive thing about Tataniano is where he lives.
He’s a lovely looking horse and jumped very well for a novice but his horse was destroyed by Diamond Harry and in that race finished 18 lengths behind a moderate winner of a novice hurdle at Ayr. Granted the ground was heavy.
His win over Postmaster by 20 lengths was ok but he was finishing 2nd to anything on 4 legs at the time.
His hurdle form or skipping round lowly Exeter and beating a horse who was as big as a barn hardly justifies making him joint fav for the Arkle.
As things stand this horse has about 20lbs to find with the likes of Sizing Europe and the only thing that draws attention to him is PN’s reputation.
He looks like a horse that will go places but Arkle fav at this stage? same old same old and absolutely crazy
paul nicholls has said about the time it got beat by diamond harry that he just wasnt right that day after the race and also the ground plus the trip were excuses after that run ruby suggested run him over 2 ruby has always said that this horse is a cracking chaser in the making so what e did over hurdles in my eyes is irrelevant . i no doubt think that ruby believes that taaniano will make mince meat of sizing europe next month hes ridden the horse enough times hes been found wanting on several occasisions .
October 21, 2009 at 18:40 #2546462 mile cheltenham is tatanianos perfect trip and hell have no problem disposing of sizing europe next month. whenpaul nicholls and andy stewart and ruby talk up a horse u take notice there the best in the business its as simple as that .
Nicholls has a tendency to talk up all of his novice chasers in October/November. I normally take everything he says with a healthy dose of salt.
Tataniano and Pride Of Dulcote could well be the next Kauto Star and Denman but they’ve beaten nothing this week and IMO are vastly underpriced on all known form.
October 22, 2009 at 19:44 #254823I rarely back anti-post but before last weeks run i backed Sizing Europe for the arkle i have been waiting for him to go over fences since he was fav for champion hurdle 2 years back and think he has great chance, i dont think catch me will in the line up maybe RSA or ryanair for him…
October 22, 2009 at 20:19 #254830The last two winners of the Arkle (Tidal Bay and Forpadytheplasterer) ran in the Ballymore Properties Novices hurdle at the previous festival (although didn’t win). Therefore my inital shortlist is Karabak, Diamond Harry, China Rock, Knockara Beau, The nIghtingale lol.
Im not an ante post punter really but I thought Tataniano was impressive, jumped well. Quwetoo from Wylie/Johnson/O’Regan team is one I am waiting to see though.
October 23, 2009 at 16:26 #254942Don’t forget Mikael douginho
October 24, 2009 at 11:10 #255055Noble Alan runs today in the 3.25 at Aintree. Potential Arkle contender? Very impressive on his debut but this is tougher. Still the one to beat today………

Doug, Quwetwo didn’t come down the hill at the Festival. Big horse, will be better on flat tracks?
October 24, 2009 at 16:57 #255134Last year’s juvenile form has a very strong feel to it, so have nabbed a little bit about Mr Thriller (£4 at average 214) for the Champion Hurdle. I don’t expect him to be good enough to win, but I can see him continue to shorten as the season progresses.

Only time Ruby rode him he fell and would have won but for that.
Hard to judge how the Nichol’s horse will handle Sizing Europe, he’s a very hard horse to get off the bridle when he’s right and he’s already shown he looks to be over what was ailing him.
Comparing SE to the horses Tatiano took on is impossible you would need a new handicap to bring them together so I find your statement a bold one to say the least.
Many would say he would have won the Champion Hurdle but for breaking down and then we have Eddie Harty saying Captain Cee Bee will run soon.
Can you imagine what price he will be if he hacks up in a novice Chase. At 16/1 ew he could be the best bet of all.
Not only did he win the Supreme Novices but he hammered Binocular in the process’ He came back to that kind of form he’d beat Tatiano by a fence.
This is potentially the best Arkle in 20 years and I wouldn’t back Tatiano with bad money…..If he beat Sizing Europe fair and square then he has a chance but up to now he’s done nothing to justify his crazy odds.

Entered in a beginners chase at Punchestown on Wednesday. Could be a hot race if he turns up with Jered, Venalmar and Psycho also in.
You’re entered in the maiden hurdle there on Tuesday yourself Fist: http://www.irishracing.com/v5horseinfo?prt=314321
Never knew you were a full brother to Cooldine!
October 24, 2009 at 22:19 #255203Jered is an interesting horse. He was the top rated novice hurdler 2 seasons ago but things just didn’t seem to go right for him last year.
I’m sure Noel Meade will place him very well, like he did in his novice hurdle days. He will probably win a couple of chases on the bridle before the bigger tests in the spring. Punchestown could end up being his ultimate goal (again like when he was novice hurdling). He needs decent ground to be seen at his best though.
If I was Noel Meade, I might give him an entry in the Fighting Fifth, because if the ground came up good I’d fancy his chances of giving some of the bigger names a rattle.
I very much doubt a clash between Jered and Captain Cee Bee will arise at Punchestown this Wednesday though, given that they are both owned by JP McManus.
Captain Cee Bee is one of the horses I’m most looking forward to this season.

Might even win?
If I ever bought another horse you wouldn’t know I had it.
Free advice:
How to have a touch, if you discover you have bought a good one
I’d have it in the trainer’s wife’s name. The we’d run him twice in bad races well short of a gallop and pull him up on his 2nd run.
Next season put him in an early novice hurdle and neither the trainer or myself would go racing, a jockey not attached to the yard would ride….send the T’s wife to the races and give the instructions to the jockey and tell him there’s a grand in it if he wins.
Meanwhile back at the ranch not a penny anywhere for the horse……….he’s anywhere between 200 and 1000/1 on Betfair…..Have seen several this week with anything up to 400 quid being available……..with luck you get a few hundred quid on at a very big price……..or alternatively you go racing with 10K in large notes get the lot on at 5/1 on average.
So 10k risked to make 50K
or 100 quid or more at 500/1…….get the idea?
_________________________________________________Back to the subject at hand…..good news on Captain Cee Bee but on the subject of Jered not taking him on I doubt if JP would interfere at this stage unless both are very fit…..be a good schooling session for one and a few quid would be wagered on the other…something JP likes to do now and then while the rest of us wonder what’s what.
October 27, 2009 at 23:41 #255780tataniano will make mince meat ov sizing europe next month no doubt in my mind . i no he is the next master minded and in time will develop in to kauto i just no it

Just goes to show how good an Arkle they are expecting.
Ashkazar failed to attract any attention in the betting market for the Arkle.
Had this been a normal year more than a few would have been grabbing the 25/1.
It could be they have given up on that idea already running him over 2m4f. Can’t see him being an RSA horse either……….suggested target anyone?
November 1, 2009 at 02:36 #256513Willie Mullins’ stable tour:
MIKAEL D’HAGUENET
5 b g Lavirico – Fleur D’Haguenet
"Showed plenty of speed throughout last season and looks a top-class chasing prospect following his Festival wins over hurdles at Cheltenham and Punchestown. He threw a splint a little while back and also sustained a cut, which meant him missing a month’s work, but it’s not the end of the world as he ran over fences in France so has the experience. I’ll try to run him early in December in preparation for Christmas andwe’ll start off thinking he’s an Arkle horse, although he’ll also have the RSA Chase as an option.
He seems to handle decent ground, but prefers some cut."

That was Askazar’s 1st attempt past 2 miles so maybe connections have an eye on further targets? Jewson Maybe? Rated 155 over hurdles so likely to be high in the weights when he gets a mark. His breeding suggests a step up in distance shouldnt be a problem and he shouldnt have a problem staying the RSA trip.
Interesting to see where they place him….
