    Gladiateur. Mullins currently sits in 64th place with 32 points from 6 wins (2 x Class 1 Grade 1, 1 x Class 1 Listed, 2 x Class 4 & 1 x Class 5)

Mullins is going to find harder to pull that money back , Skeltons has some actual solid chances in the Grade 1s this year , he’ll surely win one and also gather a lot of place money , Skeltons prob is the National , Mullins is likely to collect here and Skelton has nothing with a realistic chance

With my scoring system just based on winners it will need more than getting the stable cat to finish 10th in the National to move up the table!

I am going to do a full review of my points based system at the end of the season to see if there is an equitable system that rewards winners and the type of winners but Skelton will likely win whichever way I approach it including the official way at the moment based on prize money.

It would be gutting for the Skelton’s to train 200 plus winners and get pipped by Mullins in the last 7 weeks of the season.

What price Mullins for the real Championship now?

CAS, I think he was sitting on roughly 950k prior to the CC. Skelton is already at 3.6 million.
I have no clue what the gap was last year….

    Skelton: £3,695,100
    Mullins: £1,220,824

Willie needs to be within a million after Cheltenham, I’d say.

Agree, ERL. He needs to be close enough for the Grand National to make a difference.

He has two short priced favourites tomorrow but Skelton has a few chances as well.

I really appreciate your efforts Astralcharmer, but your system works for about the first ten in the standings. The further down you look the more inaccurate it becomes. Willie is somewhere around 28th place which I have to disagree with. It only takes him five minutes to win more prestigious races and prize money than Jonjo and Hobbs & White win in five years….
It doesn’t reflect his training abilities and success at all, imo.

Thanks Ex RubyLight and for your comments.

I will be doing a review of my points based system at the end of the season to see whether more weight should be given to certain classes of race.

It looks as though Skelton has the trainers title sown up whichever way we approach it this season and rightly so as he has been consistently banging in the winners throughout much of the season, and surely anyone who can train 200 plus winners in a season, which I think he’ll achieve, shouldn’t be pipped again by someone only targeting the Spring Festivals and races run in April in the UK?
