He certainly deserves to win the Trainers title. You could argue he’s done it without a stand out high class horse. 179 winners last term so he has just past that number this season.

Not sure if any other trainers will reach the 100 winner mark in addition to Skelton & Murphy this season? Pauling hasn’t had a winner in April and not sure what Nicholls has left to run?

Thank you for all the time and effort put in Astralcharmer. A couple of thoughts on that final table.

Five of the top ten operate in Warwickshire or Gloucestershire, all within 25 miles of the M5. Two more in Somerset also adjacent to the M5. That’s a major change from the dominance of Lambourn and Berkshire and Wiltshire generally as the centre of NH racing in the South, back when I started to follow the sport.

Equally surprising is that you have to go down to No 24 to find the first yard based in Yorkshire. Again a very dominant source of NH winners back in the 70’s and 80’s.
