Can’t say i have any sympathy. You win some, you lose some. If it’s solely about the money then you should try your hand at another sport.
March 1, 2009 at 17:00 #212892In the cold light of day your anger will subside. Racing/gambling is in our blood and most of us can’t stay away too long.
My advice: be more selective and more prudent – set yourself a daily or weekly limit – and never chase losses in the short term. Not good for the bank balance or your health.

I was at Kempton yesterday and Christian Williams gave 2 of the easiest rides ive seen this year on both Orcale De Mottes and Free World.
By the way Wednesday Country looked a real nice horse in the parade ring.
March 1, 2009 at 21:46 #212950…and did it nicely on the course backed in from 14s! He threatened to do that once or twice last term.
I will be keeping one eye on Jonathan de Giles’ new Irish import Katalak at likely big odds in a competitive enough Stratford novice handicap hurdle tomorrow – a carer strike-rate of 1-28 suggests little positive, but let’s see if the money comes again.

Gray did you go to Kempton yesterday? very mellow day wasn’t it
March 1, 2009 at 21:53 #212954Nah, I was point-to-pointing in deepest darkest Essex. Saw it all on the re-runs on RUK subsequently, though. Fresh bowl of dog-biscuits for My Turn Now, wouldn’t you say? Incredibly reluctant cove nowadays.

March 1, 2009 at 22:03 #212956On the race in question:
Hells Bay is inconsistent and has at times looked temperamental. Remember seeing him in the paddock at Newbury. Have never seen such a strange walker. So uncoordinated, arching his back. Looking like a dog walking back to his master with tail between it’s legs.
Can’t see how Emma Lavelle has been singled out. She is capable of improving horses and the winner was a well backed 11/2 chance. So hardly a surprise. Nothing suspicious, just a good training performance for a first time out win.
Aristo,
All depends on what type of punter Ghost / a person is:
If he is a punter who loves racing and bets on racing because he knows a good deal about it; then I think Ghost could easily give up betting and still be interested in "Racing" (at least the top class stuff). You can watch racing at home without going to the bookmaker, ringing him or if neccessary buying a Racing Post. It would not do to put too much temptation in front of him.
If he is primarily a "Gambler" who sees racing as just another way to gamble; then you are right. He should give up totally.
I thought from Ghost’s threads and posts he was interested in "racing".
