    Hey

    Nathan

, what is it with this guy

    elcartero

, first he sets me up and now you are the brilliant one (well you are a headliner this week) when all the time he is sitting up the above us in the table quietly looking down and I bet very amused by his diversions thinking we will not notice.

    We have news for you

    elcartero

    , we have noticed.

    I had noted it down.

Were just bookies benefit I’m afraid Bill. The hype hits the punters ‘Nathan had 3 winners’ ‘Bill had 2’ etc, etc. Just like the Nunthorpe all the money piles on Starspanglebanner(Nathan) and Equiano(Billion) and along comes this 100/1 shot(Elcartero) and slams us all. It’s a tragedy I cant hold back the tears.

While we’re battling between ourselves, John Williams has slipped the field.
There’s a long way to go and let’s hope at least one of us can come with a late run and at least get placed!
It would help if I could finally get over my current bout of seconditis

    Well done for Saturday

    Nathan

but I think we are all quite closely grouped for the month and therefore we can each pat our own backs.

16/1 winner today Bill, you will score a few points for that one. :D

I went and had a look through the previous seasons of Bob’s comp to give us something to aim at points wise.

    2008 – (22 weeks)

    2008/09 – (24 weeks)

    2009 – (24 weeks)

    2010 – (25 weeks)

    Chhers

    Nathan

    , thanks.

At least you both now have something to target and perhaps that may make your task harder that myself without a track record.

The major problem I have is knowing what to target and how to play the game, as I see it there are two simple options.

    1) Try and bang all 4 in and that can only be done with 4 short priced favourite types.

    or

    2) Go for a big scoring outsider, as per my lucky one today. By trying this method there will be more blank weeks than scoring ones.

It’s a hard call and so any advice as to which method is best will be a big help.

I bet the evenings fly by in your house, Nathan

Massive congratulations to Wild Bill on the occasion of his 16/1 winner. The less said about my effort this week the better

A few more stats to aim to beat.

    Finishing positions

    2008 – Elcartero 40(75)
    2008/09 – Nathan 29, Elcartero 55(92)
    2009 – Elcartero 46, Nathan 51(98)
    2010 – Nathan 48, Elcartero 51(99)

Not sure what the best way to go is really Bill apart from if you want to win the whole competition you will need to score some biggish winners along the way.

Just had a squint at yesterday’s selections and wish I had taken the 10/1 on

    elcartero

    ‘s blank

    I noticed a 9/1 2nd within

    Nathan

‘s picks and so perhaps a mix of shorties plus a nap on the outsider (now that would have been nice).

With regard to winning the whole thing,

    I don’t think so.

However it is interesting to find what level you are at and I for one will be quite happy not to embarrass myself and be content with mid division, which could prove a point that systems can work and there is a place for them.

:D I console myself with the thought that I have got over my latest bout of seconditis..my selections are now getting lapped!
Just remember chaps that I have been betting for many years and have ended up with a small fortune..mind you I started with a large fortune :?
We must also remember, Billion that you didn’t join the competition until week two so your performance is all the more creditable.
Joking apart, Nathan your stats are interesting and as you say do give us something to aim at..so well done.

Nathan here’s a few more stats:

    2009/10 – 446pts – finished 26th
    2008/09 – 540pts – finished 4th

I don’t play in the summer and anyone that has seen my Flat Systems will know why :D

Seriously, good luck to all from Ward 7 in Bob’s Comp.

Matron would be so proud if one of us won it.

    Yes,

I might just give you all a "weekend pass" if that were to happen.

New system idea for Bob’s comp. We copy Pete’s selections every week up until the final week and then gamble with our own selections for the final round. :D
