Last Instalment’s betfair Gold Cup price now around double that of bookmakers and First Lieutenant shortening all the time.

Looks like FL will finally get the opportunity to show what he can do at the staying distance Gord, weather willing. :D

Touch and go whether Art of Payroll gets a run but you will get your stake back as he will be balloted out. Just in case I have had my same stake £30 EW on Arctic Fire at 16s, he doesn’t hit many trends but Ruby and Mullins have a good record in handicap hurdles and the Irish will lump onto this fella, down to 12s and less but worth an EW shout.

Good man thanks for that. Few people rather confident he’ll get in now. You get 33’s too? Will have a butchers at Arctic Fire now.

    Yep it would seem that

    First Lieutenant

was going the bloody Ryanair route yet again Ginge had this ‘Last Instalment’ ran in the Gold cup.Unreal if you ask me.My lad will chase home ‘Bobs Worth’ yet again at worse but if Bryan Cooper rides him like a thorough stayer he might just steal a run on Bob as he hits his usual flat spot and any errors from Bob could prove costly.Mouse knows his charge is a Gold cup horse and irrelevant of Fentons horse running ‘First Lieutenant’ should be going for Gold.I dont fear ‘Last Instalment’ in the slightest on proper good ground around Cheltenham
in March,my lad will finally prove his worth this year and even at 14/1 now he’s the e/w bet of the meeting imo Ginge.

Yes TAPK has identified a lot of talent on this thread and some fancy prices to boot, trouble is though there are several going for what I would describe as 2nd choice targets.

    Shutthefrontdoor

for one,he is a horse I rate as Gold cup material so if he turns up in the 4 miler he’s a certainty, mark my words!

    Briars Hill

is another,he should have contested the ‘Neptune’ but again if he goes for the 3 miler he’s the winner imo.

    Boston Bob

,here’s another one I rate highly and money suggests he’s going for the Ryanair a race that would suit if he jumps.I still rate

    Holywell

and can only hope he goes for the 3m handicap chase on the first day but again he has multi entries. My dark horse for the meeting is

    Lieutenant colonel

,I’d like to see him in the ‘Neptune’ and have taken 25/1 about his chances there,if

    Vautour

does the business in the ‘Supreme’ he’ll get well backed on Wednesday.

    First Lieutenant

has to go for Gold and he’s the e/w bet of the meeting and

    At fishers Cross

has long been my World hurdle horse and still wouldn’t swap him.My most frustrating horse this season has definitely been

    Same Difference

,I thought he was a Hennessey horse but a repeat Kim Muir looks very possible and 16/1 is huge.

    Trifolium

in the Arkle has to be a player and I can see him running them ragged and

    Carlingford Lough

in the RSA will get every yard.

    Somersby

    in the Champion chase,

    Whisper

    in the Coral cup,

    Black hercules

    in the Bumper,

    Colour Squadron

    in the Byrne,

    Rupert Lamb

in the Grand annual just about makes up my army to go to war with next week.Obviously the horse I want to win more than anything is

    My Tent or yours

and if he can get past ‘The New One’ he’s this years Champion hurdler, its a big if but I am as confident as ever.Clocks ticking and I cant wait!

I must be missing something with At Fishers Cross, I can’t see why Rule The World is 10/1 while the JP horse who can’t jump is 7’s :| If the rain stays away it’s just another reason to go against At Fishers Cross. It’s strange, take Big Buck’s out of the Cleeve and At Fishers Cross would be a 12/1 shot, take Knockara Beau out and we’d probably have co favs at 5/2! Expecting a big run from Rule The World anyway, can’t wait to see him over a fence!

Interesting you mention Rupert Lamb for the Grand Annual, I’m a fan of the horse but his completion record is desperate. Ned Buntline is very much on my radar for that race but Meade’s form is a doubt while his Cheltenham record is catastrophic which tempers my enthusiasm but I’ll probably give the horse the benefit of the doubt, especially now AP has been more or less confirmed for Mr Mole.

I’m on a few of the horses you mention so hopefully we’ll have a good week :)

One team I’d love to get a winner are the Tizzards after losing out with Cue Card despite me thinking he wouldn’t place in the Gold Cup so I’ve backed 2 of his in handicaps in EW singles and a nice EW double:
    Pertemps: Grand Vision 16s
    Byrne: Third Intention 20s

    :-) fingers crossed mate

Wow what a card for Day 1 of the worlds greatest racing festival at Cheltenham tommorrow, without doubt the money horse is

    Alfie Sherrin

who looks like going off fav now,I backed him in last years Kim muir and he struggled to go the pace so AP will be doing a ‘Wichita Lineman’ on him and those who bet in running will get big odds about this fellow. The price has collapsed on

    Shutthefrontdoor

now around the 3/1 mark for the 4 miler,if my fellow doesn’t win this easily I’ll be tearing my 100/1 vouchers up for next years Gold cup!

    JLT Speciality Chase

    I bloody hope

    Shutthefrontdoor

doesn’t go for this even though a mark of 146 says he’s a player.Trouble is if connections think he can do a ‘Wichita Lineman’ his mark needs to drop considerably and thats not going to happen. No realistically the horse who should be trained for this is the one who beat my RSA selection in last years ‘Pertemps’ final in receipt of only 4lb and thats

    Holywell

,if both the Jackdaws Castle inmates ran then he’d be getting an incredible 22lb from his JP owned stablemate and thats incredible,it actually makes ‘Holywell’ a handicap snip who should get in most years off around 10-2. 16/1 is freely available about a Cheltenham horse who looks like a typical target sort Jonjo thrives on.’Merry King’ is well up in the forefront of the Ante-Post markets for this but he failed miserably in the race last year and off much the same mark I cant see him having the scope of my selection who’s been pretty well schooled this season.

    Edit,25/01/14.

    Holywell

jumped round Catterick the other day to further bolster confidence so all bodes well still for an entry in this.
Edit,23/02/14.I went up to Doncaster on Wednesday to see this

    Holywell

in action,he didn’t dissapoint and is definitely high on my Cheltenham raiding party……which race????

    Edit,26/02/14,Strong support for

    Shutthefrontdoor

in this and off bottom weight has to be seriously considered for this,10/1 NRNB with Bet365 is worth taking.
    Selection,

    Holywell

    e/w 16/1.

    Coral cup

Mark my words if the false of all false favs

    Saphir du rheu

clashes with the horse he sauntered past at Sandown this season in

    Whisper

the latter will reverse that form and at 16/1 for this the stablemate of the same owners ‘Oscar Whiskey’ looks like a target horse for this.his mark of 147 guarantees him a place and around a course he knows well I wont be opposing him for this prestigous handicap.

    Edit,11/01/14

    Saphir du rheu

won Lanzarote with ease today but will be raised another 6lb at least for his efforts which only plays into my selections hand nicely.

    Edit,01/02/14

    Saphir du rheu

shows just what an improved performer he is today,on 21lbs worse form be gets the nod over my Coral cup horse

    Whisper

.Dissapointed not to get the verdict but still a very good performance from both.Serious horses now!

    Selection,

    Whisper

    , e/w 16/1.

Who says betting Ante-Post doesn’t pay? Sickened for

    Get me out of here

    Champion chase

Sadly anyone who has odds against

    Sprinter Sacre

to serious money will have their heart in their mouth for every second of this years Champion chase all because of his freakish pulling up last time out, however if connections can get a run into the champ beforehand and we all keep our fingers crossed he passes it with his old ease then its going to be a lot more re-assuring watching him defend his crown in March. If he pulls up again though its the end of his rather short lived career a career that would leave us with more questions than answers……Bit like ‘Frankel’ methinks!!
I’ll take a chance at an Ante-Post price on my old pal getting at least placed behind the king if he runs or playing for real if he doesn’t!

Edit,23/02/14, The Champ is ruled out of defending his crown and question marks have to hang over his future now.

    Sire de Grugy

    now 11/8fav!

    Selection,

    Somersby

    40’s betfair e/w 20/1.

    Somersby

played for real and rewards us faithfuls,7’s on the machine to place Ante-Post too!
