Who wins ?
Will we see it ?
When ?
July 16, 2008 at 11:26 #173424Sorry?
This is just a bit left-field to me.
Do you know what you’re talking about? Just curious.
July 16, 2008 at 11:29 #173425Do you know who they are ?
July 16, 2008 at 11:38 #173429A wild guess –
Henrythenavigator.

No.
July 16, 2008 at 11:45 #173432Strictly on a recent form line with Raven’s Pass it would be Tamayuz but imo Henry would beat anything over a mile. Tamayuz isn’t in the Sussex but perhaps they may clash in the autumn in the QE2 or the Prix Moulin or even the Breeders Cup Mile.
July 16, 2008 at 12:32 #173436Got the run of the race.. Provided the word soft does not appear in the ground it would be a foregone conclusion…
Henry winsJuly 16, 2008 at 17:11 #173455HTN would dance all over it. A no-contest.
July 16, 2008 at 17:19 #173458Dangerous, and strange, to assume its the foregone conclusion everyone is assuming. Ravens Pass would suggest its anything but.
July 18, 2008 at 18:29 #173686Ravens is hardly a model of consistancy and my eyes tell me Henry is in a league of his own………forgone conclusion in my book also

I would argue the complete opposite Fist – he has given his running frequently enough to say that he is very consistent rather than "hardly a model of consistency". He has never been out of the first four in his career and has ran some rock solid races this term. In fact, he is so consistent that he is a very useful yardstick to measure other horses against.

July 21, 2008 at 09:45 #173994Ravens Pass is a perfect yardstick horse for form lines. For some reason, i imagine that if the roles were reversed (an all conquering French colt and a recent flashy winner of a G1 from Coolmore) peoples opinions would be reversed.
July 21, 2008 at 11:01 #174000Raven’s Pass would also have a chance of beeting them both.
Came from too far back in the Jean Prat. Where Tamayuz got the run of the race.
Does not have much to make up on Henry from the St James’s.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d make his chance less than the other two, but not by anywhere near as much as the Sussex betting currently suggests. When two horses meet again, I’ve found it usually pays (over all) to back the one who "should not win" as it’s chance is often underestimated by bookies and punters alike. You do not win as often but that is greatly outweighed by the prices available.
However, in a three horse race, may be Tamayuz would have the edge as he would have the run of the race (able to set whatever pace he wishes). Realistically, Coolmoore will put pacemakers in to stop that happening.
Henry would be my favourite but his reputation means he’ll be shorter than should be.

Out of interest – on good to firm ground, what chance (in percentage terms) would you say Henrythenavigator had of winning and how would you then price them up in this three horse race ?

July 30, 2008 at 21:55 #175389I think this contest would be even more interesting now.
Unfortunately it seems they want to step Henry up in trip is that right ?
