A tremendous comeback by Takeover Target in the 1200m Group 2 Winterbottom stakes at Perth yesterday, as he edged out gaudy speedster Apache Cat by a nose.

Marasco was third and the locally trained Danny Beau, a half-brother to none other than Miss Andrett, fourth.

Top marks for a fantastic training performance by Joe Janiak in getting this legend back on top form after injuring a tendon in his last outing nearly 6 months ago at Royal Ascot.

Can’t wait to see the race on Youtube!

    Excellent news

Great to see the old boy back on the track – was a shame he never got to appear at the July Cup this year.

What price did he go off at Venusian? I’m always interested at what price the foreign sprinters go off at :)

Hopefully he makes another visit to Ascot next year, maybe with Sacred Kingdom this time!

Interesting to see how Apache Cat goes in the Hong Kong Sprint in a couple of weeks time.

If AC wins then surely you’d have to believe Takeover Target is back on target for Ascot

Won the A.J. Scahill Stakes (1400m) by 3-4 lengths today – put that margin on his nearest rival 300m out within about 3 strides. Remarkable.

He was rising towards a 10YO but try telling him to go on pension!

Now to spell and return to training in February – races in New Zealand and Sydney are the earlier options but he will be defending his title in the KrisFlyer Sprint at Kranji, Singapore. And one final journey to England is also planned.
