Kevin Blake went for Chantry House on the ATR Cheltenham preview show last night, so Irish tipsters can occasionally choose English horses.

I suspect the lack of enthusiasm for Asterion Forlonge from Closutton is because he isn’t a flashy workhorse at home; they thought he was slow as a boat and a stayer in the making but he obviously perks up on the racecourse.

Did they say he was as slow as a boat? Cant remember that?

Closutton are tight lipped on everything, the market will guide you on there opinion

“Did they say he was as slow as a boat? Cant remember”

I may be paraphrasing but the implication has certainly been there when Mullins has spoken about the horse in the past.

I’ve little doubt that if Ruby were still riding, he’d love to ride AF in this; his type of Supreme horse.

Yeah mark i agree, forgetting the fact i think hes a certainty to win this, its easy to deflect and say something else has a better chance, if ruby said AF was special or whatever it would move markets, so easier to just deflect, i actually find anyone from the mullins yard does the same bar patrick

Well he did say come the DRF he’d have ridden AF over MT Leinster.

He’d be 2/1 fav for this if Ruby had ridden him then and was riding now. No-one would be worrying at all about Paul or Willie’s “stayer” comments.

I’d say Gordie is just doing what he’s paid to do. Create hype and chat about his sponsor’s preview night. Switch to Supreme seems unlikely to me. He has said what he just said all year as well to be fair.

Disagree jack ive long said on the ballymore thread he should come here and after that tonight i actually think he will, if the ground is softish on sunday morn when he walks it and he knows mondays to be raining, i was against it being a slog, but it just might you know

Hes my only worry against asterion, but even if he turns up here ill stick with AF, but hed be a big danger, hes definitely more suited to this race than the ballymore

What he said and what he actually told us I’d say were two completely different things.

What he said was that he was now open to the idea of the Supreme and that he could go to either. I think what he’s actually told us in saying this however is that the Supreme is 100% now his target.

Yeah boz i definitely came away from it with that opinion that he will come here, i doubt hed move a market like that as a publicity stunt, he played down all of that but he knows the importance of it

If that was the case Ham, Envoi wouldn’t have been the price he was on the exchange before he mentioned it on the preview night. Elliot’s yard is a gambling one. He was like 20 on the exchange. They aren’t leaving that behind.

It’s always been an option and he’s said that, but it’s still option 2 IMo.

Interesting listening to Danny Mullins talk about how Asterion Forlange pulled slightly to his left away from the grandstands up the Leopardstown straight
Might lose some ground at Cheltenham unless he’s bagged the rail again

After walking the track early on Sunday morning, Elliott found the ground to be better than expected and therefore ruled out any chance of Envoi Allen switching to the Supreme. The news has seen the Cheveley Park-owned novice harden into 5-4 favourite for the Ballymore on Wednesday.

Elliott said: “I walked the track early this morning and it’s not as bad as I expected at all. The one worry I had all along for Envoi Allen was a slog on heavy ground in the Ballymore. But it’s probably what we would call yielding to soft ground in Ireland, the sun is shining and the wind is blowing hard so it’s drying out.

“I’ve said all along I think the Ballymore is the race which would suit Envoi Allen best so I’m thrilled that’s where we’re going. He seems to be in great form and I’m looking forward to the race.”

News that the ground is not as soft as expected will be music to the ears of Abacadabras fans and Elliott says conditions should not pose too much of a problem for the Grade 1-winning novice in the Supreme.

The trained said: “Abacadabras should be fine on the ground, especially if the wind keeps blowing and the sun keeps shining. I can’t say he wouldn’t handle really soft ground, but he’s got plenty of pace so I would imagine the better the ground the better his chance would be.”

My formula for this one is an Irish horse but not the obvious one. Selection is CAPTAIN GUINNESS, lightly raced and likely to hace bit more in the locker than some. De Bromhead might well make hay this week while the Irish focus is in Elliott abd Mullins.
