No it’s not – he was only left in in case there was a problem with Cousin Vinny and then the horse would have run if CV was a non-runner.

Aachen runs in the County Hurdle on Friday

It would certainly appear to be soft the way they all came home there, and those that were prominent, were nowhere to be seen at the finish. They did go quick early though, so it will be interesting to see the time…

They went very fast up front – CV was up there most of the way tracking the pace as was Red Moloney and they did not finish that far behind. Looks good to sft ground to my eyes but when someone finds the time out we’ll know. It was a true run race anyway.

Medermit over three miles might be a hell of a horse. World Hurdler of the future?

Well done to Medermit, or Merry Mint as Ted Walsh wants to call him. Mr King will be pleased with that run.

    The time?

Well, are you ready for this?

According to the RP winning time, Go Native ran the race 5.5 seconds quicker than Captain Cee Bee did last year.

Is the ground really that soft?

Also, Forpady went a few seconds quicker than Tidal Bay in the corresponding race last year.

Not seen the CH time yet.

Punjabi’s time 0.1 seconds quicker than Go Native.

But last year, Captain Cee Bee and Binocular came up the hill with some potency and this year the supreme novice was a very laboured looking finish, so the truth may lie somewhere in between.

The eyecatcher of the race was Somersby, in my opinion.
