The highlight of the summer racing calendar for me! (No, I’m serious) and a beacon of hope amongst all the posers and Arabs that I hate about the flat.

I was at Uttoxeter a month or so ago and saw Gloire D’athon win cosily under Aiden Coleman. I backed both him and killer clown and for a fair part of the race it looked like the clown was gonna do me a very nice touch at 14/1.

The clown is 4lb better off this time and I’m probably going to go in with them both again here.

In all the years in the 1980s when I attended Market Rasen’s Silver Ring, never once did I hear the Lincolnshire venue referred to as “The Raspberry.”

Not even as a young racing journalist, when able to obtain tickets for me and my legendarily tight father to upgrade to the Grandstand, did I hear it thus labelled.

    Times….change.

But one thing never changes – and that’s Francky Du Berlais winning the Summer Plate, ably assisted by the bloke I now believe to be the best Jumps jockey in the UK, Sean Bowen.

Frankly franky has little to recommend him this year.

Another year older, coming up against some younger, better looking rivals.

Remind you of anyone, Ian? :yahoo: ;-)

Only just watched this after a few fences I thought that’s that.

The more I know the less I understand.
