I had a feeling before the racing on Saturday that I should keep my outlay to a minimum, though of course I didn’t.
But even so, I was surprised to not even win money on one short-priced winner. Was it because of a small amount of rain falling on, for the most part, good to firm tracks? I didn’t hear of any horse slipping or any comments along those lines.
Was it just the nature of the fields? Or was the going a factor, does anyone know? Or was I just picking duds, full stop.

July 21, 2008 at 20:23 #174074Yes. I usually see on one or two the night before I feel pretty confident about – with a cushion of superiority at a price that appeals to me – but not last Saturday.
I think the number of meetings and races also affects the astuteness (such as it is) of my selections adversely.
July 22, 2008 at 09:16 #174126i find on a saturday there are so many meetings it is impossible to devote any time to all the races is it really necessary to have so many meetings on a saturday if we must race on a sunday surely the dear race planners could ensure a couple of decent meetings
July 23, 2008 at 00:50 #174333Absolutely. And why should stable and race-course staff have to work on Sundays as well as Saturdays? Greed. Everyone’s becoming a wage- slave because of the greed of the few.
