At the risk of being called for Spam, can I refer to the following story on the Guardian website:
http://media.guardian.co.uk/presspublis … 38,00.htmlSeptember 25, 2007 at 19:42 #116400No way that is spam.
I must admit that I have never heard of Racing Ahead
, but wish them all the best with this venture. As "The Sportsman" episode proved, this marketplace isn’t easy to break into, but any competition for the RP has to be good news.
September 25, 2007 at 19:47 #116401This is not spam but I am not sure how well it will do as a weekly publication. It says that it is cheaper than the Racing Post at £1.50 but the RP costs the same amount.
September 25, 2007 at 19:48 #116403The new paper is £1
September 25, 2007 at 19:49 #116404Can’t believe anyone investing in a newspaper especially a minority interest like horse racing. The market is shrinking as more people access information online. I haven’t bought a paper of any kind for years.
September 25, 2007 at 19:50 #116405Sorry misread thr article
September 25, 2007 at 20:19 #116416Good luck with that project, mulls.
The chronological racecards idea was discussed briefly at The Sportsman but went the way of most of the other remotely radical ideas there.
The Sportsman was originally intended to be a paper for (sports) punters and about betting and stats as well but ended up tying itself in knots in order to chase circulation (real and imagined).
I’ll be buying it.
September 25, 2007 at 20:45 #116425Looks interesting enough. I like the idea of the chronological racecard. Good luck to them with it.
September 25, 2007 at 21:00 #116436I’ll give it a look
What day will it be published?
Will there be an on-line version?
Good luck with the venture, but Wallace’s words are well said IMO
September 25, 2007 at 22:05 #116456I’ll buy it, I don’t like the RP to be honest, to much waffle and nonsense.
Does this new paper have a website?
September 25, 2007 at 22:22 #116461If the new "paper" is a web site it may have a chance!
September 25, 2007 at 22:39 #116462they have a website : http://www.racingahead.net/ and they have just started a digital version of the monthly magazine which i did not know about – i may give them the benefit of the doubt and just subscribe for the hard copy
the weekend paper might even appeal as though i never buy the post as it is all online for free, if it has both days racing in it for 1.50 it is cheaper than the post which you have to buy sat and sun
something different always appeals, well, most of the time anyway
September 25, 2007 at 22:56 #116464Time order is a fantastic idea. Nothing worse than on a Saturday being too slow to switch the remote control and missing a race.

http://media.guardian.co.uk/presspublis … 38,00.htmlVery brave indeed. Good luck with it!
September 28, 2007 at 10:23 #116900Before the eventuality of the first ever Racing Ahead Weekend edition in a few weeks’ time, herewith a reminder that the latest edition of the excellent monthly magazine came out yesterday – available from any self-respecting WH Smith or larger Tesco.

I actually bought the last edition, and was surprisingly impressed. Not saying the entire thing is great quality by any means, but it is a worthwhile read.
