As Matt Chapman has correctly pointed out,Adam Kirby has blatantly failed to ride out Soundbyte in the 1.40 at Lingfield for 2nd place at 5/1 therefore allowing the 40/1 Jenny Potts to do him close home! The 4/5 fav Luck of the Draw won comfortably. Any punters who could quite easily have gone for a forecast with the fav and Soundbyte have been robbed and as per usual the Stewards do Sweet FA about it! I have said it many times before but the Stewards in this country are F****n Useless! Anyone who differs with this opinion knows F** all about horse racing its that clear!

Prize money difference between 2nd & 3rd: £227Trainers & jockeys don’t give a damn about punters, they only care for their own cut & £227 isn’t worth throwing the kitchen sink at.

Possibly AC – but the stewards should be protecting punters interests and if what TAPK (and Matt Chapman by the sound of it) says is correct then they’ve failed in that respect. I haven’t seen it yet so can’t comment on anything other than the principle of teh matter.

Adam Kirby can also be seen working his magic on Silver Linnet – another Quinlan horse – in the 2.10.

Just watched that Non-event of a ride from
Adam Kirby
too! Pathetic! This is the same Adam Kirby who has successfully steered the admirable
Stotsfold
to over half a dozen victorys! This lad is making a name for himself for all the wrong reasons at the moment! Walter will be watching!

Can you blame owners and trainers for not giving a damn about the punters!?, why should they care about us, all we are is little addicted hobbits who think we know everything and can make a living over the years or profit on a day out.
If I was a trainer I’d only look after my stable staff, horses and owners, I wouldn’t give anything to the public because they don’t deserve it.
Keep crying mate, it’s never going to change – you’re not in the loop and never will be.
Bet you wish you was born in a Racing family eh?

Tell me I know f*** all about racing, but after 10 good smacks, Soundbyte had already given his all, Adam Kirby clearly knew where the opposition was, and it’d be a brave man who’d say the horse would have found more for any more punishment.

I think we ought to start a thread in the notebook section and follow all of these that we spot having ‘quiet’ runs.
It looks as though there may be another quiet one before Silver Linnet is ‘off’ as his last winning mark on the AW is 56 and he ran off 59 today.
Edit: can’t spell ‘off’

Perhaps you should read the rules of racing Gord before you go off on a tantrum and tell everyone how they know nothing about racing.
I think it can be seen clearly why the stewards never felt they should act.
Alan Kirby was riding like a man possessed from the home turn and got just about every ounce out of the horse hitting him 11 times 9 of which would have made AP proud.
He was clearly beaten and as per the rules regarding excessive use of the whip he put down it down and rode the horse hands and heels out to the line.
It looked very much to me like he knew he had been very hard on the horse and with the horses welfare in mind he looked round for 1 second to see if he could ease down more. He immediately realised he couldn’t missing two push outs at worst and went back into the drive position but the horse too close to the line and knackered had no chance of picking up again.
A mistake perhaps but without malice and certainly not deserving of your scathing comments to either party..

As per the rules
45.3.3 the Rider considers that it would be contrary to the horse’s welfare to continue riding out
because the horse
45.3.3.1 has no more to giveJanuary 7, 2011 at 19:03 #335004

Soundbyte ran on well enough for welfare not to have been an issue; he was hit as they passed the furlong pole and I doubt very much whether the final 150 yards were considered too much for him.
I’d like to believe that Adam Kirby merely made a massive error in judgement by taking the decision not to ride to the line, in the belief that he was assured of finishing second. However, having watched the video closely it’s clear that he takes a noticeable glance at the big screen and only then drops his hands.
Proving anything other than human error is difficult in any situation – unless you happen to train or ride Casela Park – but there’s enough in the video alone for me to be asking serious questions.

Here we go again – another day, another set of
"serious questions"
and
"disillusioned punters"
.
The question as to whether Kirby dropped his hands a little too soon and thus lost 2nd place, on a horse he’d already whipped to the limit, is not so much
"serious"
as (at best)
"mildly interesting"
.
Really, ladies and gentlemen, don’t we feel that there is such a thing as
"perspective"
?
January 7, 2011 at 19:45 #335008No problem with his ride on Soundbyte. The Silver Linnet one will be one to reflect on in the coming weeks.
January 7, 2011 at 20:09 #335009Without punters there would be no racing industry, that is a fact.
Stewards must protect punters against non triers, corruption and anything suspicious about rides and runners. If not people will just get sick and tired of it and gamblers will look to other sports. Fact.
So the attitude of a trainner who couldnt care less about a punter is completely the wrong one.
It is this attitude of arrogant trainners that may bring down this industry and great sport.
IMO

History shows you like to dissagree with me for the sake of it reet and yet time and again i have the last laugh! It wouldn"t be a brave man who"d say the horse would have found more for any more punishment as you put it either,it was a stupid man that eased the horse up though and Adam has proved more than once lately that Stupid is his middle name!

And thats coming from a Timeform contributor! Why they ever called it the Black Book is beyond me,i have never seen such a bunch of Grey "I daren"t say what i really think as i might get in trouble" brigade, lead by Jimbo "You say it John" McGrath! Timeform have got away with it for years!
