Steve Harley has died. Aside from his music, he inspired the name of the dual Guineas winner Cockney Rebel. He was at Newmarket to see the horse win and I believe he enjoyed a bet.
RIP.
March 17, 2024 at 16:48 #1687179Didn’t Cockney Rebel stand at the National stud but was a bit vicious and he got moved abroad? On the rare occasion that I did a stable visit I always kept well away from his progeny who, I believe, took after their dad!
March 19, 2024 at 08:55 #1687355He owned a few racehorses in his time. I think Iain Jardine was his most recent trainer, Harley had Scottish connections (married a Scottish lady, wise man) and spent time in the Glasgow area which I suppose would be the link there.
