He deserves a shot at it.
December 28, 2023 at 14:16 #1675376“Robcour have the two best staying hurdlers in britain and Ireland by some distance it seems”
We dont know that yet as Teahupoo couldn’t beat Dashel Drasher last season and old boy Berlais and no guarantee he’s improved for going the 3 miles again (good at 2 and a half miles last time). The french horse, Crambo and Irish Point (and Sir Gerhard?) could be the fresh blood who do the bizz. Looks open still.
December 29, 2023 at 15:03 #1675571Added Impaire Et Passe 16-1. Mullins said he’ll talk to owners he is bred for 3 miles. I may have put 2 and 2 together and made 5 lol
December 29, 2023 at 15:07 #1675574Corbetts cross should come here
Not a natural chaser at all
The hattons grace run would suggest impaire et passe would have little chance of staying 3 miles but perhaps he was just fresh on reappearance
Ridiculous decision to keep him over hurdles
December 29, 2023 at 15:13 #1675577The Ballymore thrashing suggests 3 miles is within reach. The Hattons Grace may have been another first run of the season rustiness of a Mullins horse.
Corbetts Cross ran ok shocked if they go hurdling.
December 29, 2023 at 17:32 #1675588Mullins got Nichols Canyon to win a stayers despite being campaigned over 2m all season right up to the Irish Champion Hurdle. IEP is clearly not beating State Man never mind Constitution Hill. 3m looks a no brainer to me. Is he that good? I was dubious about the Ballymore because Champ Kiely and Gaelic Warrior are both much better going right handed.
December 29, 2023 at 22:57 #1675647“Is he that good?”
I think he’s a good chaser. Or should be. He was beaten by two very good horses in Teahupoo and State Man, and finished well clear of the rest despite not being a natural hurdler.
I think they’ve hashed up his season and he should go over fences at the end of January, then have another run, skip Cheltenham and target the Ryanair novice chase at Fairyhouse, then perhaps the 3m novice chase at Punchestown to see if he would stay. But Cheltenham Cheltenham Cheltenham so they’ll probably run the legs and lungs out of the big framed six year old in the Stayers. Meh.
December 29, 2023 at 23:13 #1675649While you would all be proven right for a while……ie, probably winning novice chases. They’ve taken a ballsy choice by staying hurdling, most people are crying *Where are the 2m hurdlers!*
Mullin’s + M/S try and keep one hurdling and now they are criticised….
As for Corbetts Cross going back hurdling—remember Noble Yeats? Looked like he had never jumped a fence for a few runs + then wins a National….Nothing wrong with this guy staying chasing in my book.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 30, 2023 at 13:56 #1675737I’ll tickle Sir Gerard again before he runs tomorrow , still think he may end up here
December 31, 2023 at 12:50 #1675867There was some 33s SG about so i took that instead.
December 31, 2023 at 14:13 #1675887I’ve tickled him a few times Mike at big prices , I’m really hoping he wins well today
December 31, 2023 at 14:25 #1675890Lovely , engines still there , stuck with him over hurdles willie and get him primed for March
December 31, 2023 at 14:49 #1675899Mullins said post race SG had pulled muscles after his chase fall last time and he didn’t know what to expect so it was a good win for what was his proper first run of the season. He said Stayers Hurdle is the plan and is in no doubt he stays 3 miles.
December 31, 2023 at 15:01 #1675904Good lad Willie
December 31, 2023 at 15:19 #1675908Very good, he hurdled well and if he missed a fair bit of work after the fall, that is certainly a nice performance. Anyone on at the big price would have to be very pleased.
January 1, 2024 at 12:01 #1676008It was a bit naive of me to back Absolute Notions for this considering his mark- I didn’t think they would sit on it all season but they have (also pushed into waiting by ground too).
So looking about for another, I’ll try Bob Olinger at 40s. Probably a bit stupid to back another Robcour horse as if they want to add to Teauhpoo then Irish Point is the obvious one. But if Bob wins today, his Cheltenham figures will be 111 which is hard to ignore. I think they kind of have to give 3 miles another go.
January 1, 2024 at 13:00 #1676017Bob Olinger likely doesn’t stay 3 miles. There’s the 2 and a half Aintree Hurdle for some place prize money if CH turns up.
