I haven’t had my jabs (I’m getting my booster next week) so that I can travel. I have had them for one simple reason: so that if I contract the disease, I am less likely to get seriously ill.
I also wear a mask, so that if I am carrying the disease, I am less likely to spread it to others; this is because I’m not a selfish prick.
Now, how many f***ing Covid threads do we need?

To be honest I think anyone booking a holiday abroad these days should take into account that the situation is changing constantly. In fact, even booking a holiday in the U.K. isn’t yet exactly risk free.

Do you really not understand basics, Ricky?
Omicron is already here but currently only in a relatively small amount. Effectively inviting travellers infected with the virus in to the UK would obviously have a massive bearing on the the spread of Omicron here. The exact opposite to what you claim.
Hospitals are always at their busiest in Winter – don’t want hospitals full up… And we don’t want Christmas to be cancelled either. So the more we can do to slow Omicron down without buggering up the economy too much the better… Sadly it needs to be done now because if Omicron is more dangerous than Delta then waiting until certain of its dangers will be too late.
…However, of course if Omicron turns out to be less dangerous – then restrictions can be lifted earlier.
