Terrible accident at Haydock today:
July 21, 2017 at 17:10 #1310901In intensive care apparently. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery
July 21, 2017 at 20:20 #1310925Well, unfortunately he didn’t survive. I don’t know what exactly happened, but Mr. Yarborough has been confirmed dead.
Those stalls aren’t moved at high speeds, so maybe he got run over in a very awkward moment.
Rest in PeaceJuly 21, 2017 at 21:17 #1310928Not a mention on Racing UK tonight about this shameful
July 21, 2017 at 22:09 #1310931Absolutely dreadful news.
Thoughts with his family.

July 21, 2017 at 22:25 #1310935Terrible news.
I hope that there is a full and thorough investigation in to how this could possibly happen, because it shouldn’t plain and simple.
July 21, 2017 at 22:30 #1310936Awful news, stall handlers are the bravest unsung heroes of racing,I hope just for once JCR forget their greed and abandon tomorrow nights meeting as a mark of respect
July 21, 2017 at 23:02 #1310940When you think about the stalls handlers ducking and weaving amongst horses weighing hundreds of pounds it seems incomprehensible that he could lose his life whilst moving the stalls.
Racing is going ahead at Haydock tomorrow.
RIP.
July 21, 2017 at 23:35 #1310948Poor man and his family. Like you say patriot, it would be easier to understand if it was an injury from a horse. He was the leader of the stalls team so must have had plenty of experience. I hope the inquiry finds out what happened. Horrible for his work colleagues too.
July 22, 2017 at 00:13 #1310955So sad for his family. Our thoughts are with them
July 22, 2017 at 00:33 #1310961Such a shock to read this news.
I’ve seen those stalls at close quarters, even stood in one and they are metal deathtraps for horses who are easily spooked, but never dreamed that such an awful accident would occur with an experienced stall handler.
Surely it’s time these antiquated museum pieces were sent for scrap and more user friendly stalls brought to the races. Stalls that could be easily transported and put in place by tractor, perhaps wooden and padded inside so as not to move and rattle on a windy day with electronic plastic see through opening gates with a panic button release for the jockey to press if a horse is spooked and tries to escape beneath them.
I know the above would come at horrendous cost to the racing industry but what cost a man or woman’s life, this should never have happened but sadly no consolation to the family of Mr. Yarborough, so sad.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 22, 2017 at 00:36 #1310962My condolences to his family. This is truly awful for all concerned.
July 22, 2017 at 08:35 #1310986Awful news.
Totally agree with Triptych’s comments about the stalls too.
July 22, 2017 at 09:12 #1310992Really shocked how this can happen in this day and age. Condolences to his family.
July 22, 2017 at 10:35 #1311006Terrible news. Racing goes ahead in memory of the man but I can’t believe that those involved yesterday would be in a fit mental state to work today.
Culture Club are playing afterwards, the party atmosphere around the course can’t be good. Perhaps the money being made behind the bars etc will go to some sort of fund towards the deceased family members.
July 22, 2017 at 12:42 #1311037I’m completely shocked and saddened by this. My heartfelt condolences to Mr Yarborough’s family
and friends and also his colleagues who must have horrified at the racecourse. What a terrible
tragedy.July 22, 2017 at 13:05 #1311040Not a mention on Racing UK tonight about this shameful
Steve, RUK broke the news during their Hamilton coverage, and did discuss it. I do not know how long they went over it though.
Unbelievable that this has happened, and thoughts go out to his poor family.
