Look Here confirmed on target for the race. Would be a real boost for the race if the 2 classic winners that head the betting for it turn up.
I still worry that Frozen Fire has the potential to drop the lot. I think he threw the Dante away, being kind you could say he didn’t handle Epsom but it was a dire effort nonetheless and he avoided all the trouble in an Irish Derby where the form was anything but upheld at Longchamp. Trip should suit him but I couldn’t go near him at 5/2.
Oaks form looks good, upheld at the Curragh by the placed horses and run in a really good time. Suspect she is still being underrated beuse of her trainer and have taken 5’s today with the hope she does get there.
September 6, 2008 at 18:45 #179735Aidan has consistently stated that Frozen Fire would be going to the Arc.I believe that AV will be the yards runner of choice.FF, SOF and HTN will run in the Arc.
September 6, 2008 at 18:46 #179736Henry the navigator will never run in the Arc!!!!
September 6, 2008 at 20:04 #179747I meant DoM not HTN. Thanks for taking the error to my attention.
September 7, 2008 at 21:18 #179952I have to be with DJ here- the more I look at the Irish Derby the more it looks like unreliable form. I reckon you could have run it again the following week and got a different result. Look Here looks fairly solid but my worry is her absence since the Oaks- it’s not ideal for a stamina test like the Leger- I’d say 5/1 was fair, but not exciting. I haven’t heard the latest about Doctor Freemantle’s chances of making the gig, but there hasn’t been any money for him and he too is coming back after an absence. I’ll be surprised if Unsung Heroine is good enough and I’m very against Patkai. Can’t see a bet at the mo, but the filly is the closest thing to value I can see today.
September 7, 2008 at 21:42 #179959Patkai is not a runner apparently

He’s been subject to some money today (there was close to bugger all queuing up to back him this morning), but that’s most likely because of the fairly promising noises made by the RP and Teddy Grimthorpe today. I’d certainly put him odds-on to run off the back of those.
September 9, 2008 at 21:32 #180241is there any interest in that horse of Andrew Balding’s?
September 9, 2008 at 21:46 #180247I presume you mean Top Lock? I like the horse, so much so that I backed him in the German Derby, but I think the notion is that it would be a surprise to see him find the necessary imrpovement to win on Saturday given how much we’ve seen of him at pattern level this year, and it’s one I’d subscribe to.
September 10, 2008 at 13:15 #180315I’ll be "romantic" for this years Leger.
Conduit and the two fillies, Look Here and Unsung Heroine.
Not sure if FF will stand the trip…September 10, 2008 at 14:14 #180320Everyone quietened down, or is Look Here still the supposed dead cert that some expect her to be?
September 10, 2008 at 15:34 #180333Look Here owes me nothing after The Oaks….I would like nothing better than to see her win on Saturday; she’s this year’s Peeping Fawn to me!
September 10, 2008 at 22:05 #180382I’m hopeful that there is going to be a decent pace on and on that basis its Look Here and an e/w punt on Washington Irving.
Look here has strong credentials and an obvious chance. She wants a good pace and being by Montjeu, so will Washington Irving. Pretty sure to stay on breeding and at a shade over 20/1 looks a good outsider.
September 11, 2008 at 09:54 #180417Im still with Washington Irving e/w @ 20-1 on this one.
September 11, 2008 at 12:40 #180433Three starts and a decent layoff with a new jockey on board, it makes you wonder who Look Here is or has become when she steps out on Saturday.
Is it this doubt of knowing that leads to a support for Doctor Fremantle, Unsung Heroine and Washington Irving?
OK – first task is to oust all those I sense will feel the pinch over the 1m6f and change.
Alessandro Volta
Enroller
WhistledownwindOK – second task, I seek a hardened campaigner – something that has filled out physically and mentally. My concerns to the following.
Unsung Heroine
Going concerns?
Conduit
Top LockFlick away the Coolmore tactician bunnies and I leave myself with:
Doctor Fremantle
Frozen Fire
Look Here
Warringah
Washington IrvingBashkirov and Hindu Kush share the speed and keep their Montjeu stablemates on their toes. The horse with the Irish Derby victory vs. the Maiden, albeit one of the better 3YO Maiden’s in training. Ten times the price. Considering that Ballydoyle may have a mortgage on the race, it’s hard not to look past Washington Irving at the price.
The Ballyroan was a very good trial. Mores Wells clearly had the brilliance but Washington Irving stayed on very well for second place and it was extremely promising.
The rest need a good look-over but I really like Warringah for an even longer shot.
September 11, 2008 at 13:05 #180440The ground is going to be the key here if it comes up Soft or worse.
2 horses with failry decent form on Sft ground are Top Lock and Washington Irving.
The worry about the second would be that Ladbrokes are top price at 25/1.
Both could be worth an each-way shout.
September 11, 2008 at 15:27 #180459Cannot have Washington Irving at all.
How many maidens have won a classic?
