I’ve got Arrest on at antepost for while. I added Desert Nero after his last win

I reckon Arrest can win a big one and this just might be it.

Desert Hero also looks intriguing and would be a good story.

    They’re my two.

(NB I’ve never backed the winner of the Leger, unless you count Bondi Beach)

So don't run, just like the others always do

Dettori said last night it is 50/50 about what he rides. I have a feeling he is going to ride Arrest, which will then be certain to go off favourite.

I cannot back anything else but Gregory and Tower of London should both run well. I only wish I had cashed out on Savethelastdance now!

Arrest now shortened like you said FF into joint favourite, favourite in places. Since Frankie decided to go with Arrest

Continuous I’ve plumped for in the end. Used my free bet on the race as it’s been a tricky one to make my mind up on with the weather uncertainties.

I can see Arrest going off 2/1 favourite now, especially once ITV get the “Frankie’s Last Classic” coverage going.

    Could well do cork

He went off fav for the derby because frankie was on him despite having virtually no chance on that ground

I really didn’t like Denmark in his last run, and it was enough to rule him out from running here. I think that it’s almost a foregone conclusion that he’ll have a specific support role to play here, but I bet him anyway 50-1 ew. That’s purely because I liked some of his runs pre-Haydock

Time of the two two year old pattern races suggest the ground is on the good-soft side of “soft”.
Should be proper good-soft by off time and possibly on the good side of good-soft.

With two races run under 3 seconds slower than standard on the straight course, I am thinking it is no worse than good to soft now and likely drying out all the time (sunny with blue skies from ITV pictures). Although the official description says soft (good to soft in places on the straight course).

The first race was run almost 6 seconds slow (which would suggest soft) and you can ignore the time of the Cup (over 12 seconds slow) as they were clocking many 14 second furlongs until Hollie gave up fighting with Trueshan but the Mallard was run almost 14 seconds slow and they seem to go a fair gallop – so maybe the round course is proper soft.

It’s not really the seconds slower than standard of the whole race that I go on, it’s the seconds slower per furlong.

So longer trips can be expected to be quite a bit more “slow” if the going is the same on the round course… But that is an “IF”.

tbh I doubt it is quite the same on the round course, but probably not as slow as the Donny Cup (12.2) and Mallard (13.8 slow) times suggest.

    …However,

I have backed Arrest and Desert Hero.

Can’t really have any more bets on the race but there was a helpful free bet in my Hills account this morning – which probably says something about how that account is going!

I stuck it on Arrest at 7/2.

Tower of London looks a cracking bet to me. Will stay the distance and be fresh for the race. Continous is the best horse in the race but has looked better on good ground. Tower of London and Gregory the ones for me.

I agree Tower Of London should be shorter.
    He’s my saver bet. :good:
