Not everyone Raymo…..
although it will keep UDS odds against so I’ll have more time to keep chipping away.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 15, 2015 at 20:34 #1221912Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Nathan just for the pure spectacle it has to be on the wish list!!
And luckily I haven’t backed anything ante post LOL
November 15, 2015 at 20:39 #1221917Yeah, all my bets are accounted for so win, lose or draw may the best horse on the day win and they all come home to fight another day.
The worst result I had ante-post was Punchestown in the World Hurdle, couldn’t see him beat and was betting him accordingly until Big Bucks fell and was rerouted.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 15, 2015 at 21:02 #1221919A massive puzzler to me why over the sticks the trainers are allowed by owners to tailor entries to suit their own requirements.
The Rynair is a boil on the backside of NH Championship racing.
A classic example of polarised opinions in this game – I think it’s been a wonderful race; long may it continue
The race was introduced as a Grade 2 off the bat which was galling enough. Thisthatandtother and Fondmort won the two runnings under G2 status, and as these 2 horses had won a grand total of zero G1 chases in open company between them, some genius decided that a promotion to G1 was required.
It’s robbed us of depth to the GC and CC for no better reason I can see than sheer greed.
Have to agree; has reduced competitiveness of both GC + particularly the 2-mile championship
November 15, 2015 at 23:15 #1221923Was great to see SS win and win like that!
Settled and travelled and jumped really well I thought, and put the race to bed in a matter of strides…like the good old days!
Great stuff from Henderson…and Nico too….a jockey really on the up and one who’s riding at the very top of his game at present…looks like he’s been riding the top horses in the top races for years and years!
Exciting to see how he goes for the rest of the season now!
November 16, 2015 at 00:16 #1221931Sprinter won the Melling Chase over 2m4f so that is a bit of a moot point imho and shouldn’t the owners ultimately decide where their horse runs and not pander to the trainer? Afterall, Simonsig is 9 rising 10 and with his injury history this may be their one proper chance at the big G1 race and a Champion Chase looks far better on the CV than an Ryanair (aka the race you run in if you don’t stay the Gold Cup distance or your not quick enough for the Champion Chase).
His hard pulling style is crying out for a strongly run 2m race rather than trying to get him to settle in over 2m4f and quite frankly it was fraustrating as a race fan listening to Henderson state that he didn’t want them to clash the following season after Simonsig’s stroll in the Arkle. Injury to both horses saved him from having to deal with it but if I was Simonsig’s owners I would be telling him that all roads lead to the Champion Chase regardless.
Granted what race fans want to see is unlikely to be cared about by connections but who wouldn’t want to see Un De Sceaux blazing off from the front with Simonsig & Sprinter Sacre stalking him coming down the hill?
I’d love to see it too LD, with Cue Card thrown in. I am against the Ryanair too, it’s been to the detriment of quality and competitiveness of both Champion Chase and Gold Cup. But the fact is the Ryanair does exist, so as long as Henderson has two top class animals – it’s logical for them to split. More than one good race to go for in November too, even if we’d like to see it.
With top trainers, owners seem to have less of a say in who goes where these days. At Cheltenham, if Mullins, Nicholls or Henderson have top horses seems the agreement is they’re split.
Value Is EverythingNovember 16, 2015 at 00:35 #1221935Good performance today.
However, keeping on topic, after seeing SS in the flesh winning the Chandler on heavy pulling a bus id suggest anyone saying he cannot run to his best form on soft ground is wrong.
So Baron Von Greenbacks amateur dramatics yesterday were indeed nonsense.
No doubt Chandler was a top class performance TTC, better than most Chandler winning performances. But the second was the 50/1 outsider Mad Moose, beaten 14 lengths. Somersby weakening to be a further 2 1/4 lengths away third, below his best after paying for chasing Sprinter Sacre.
How can a performance beating Mad Moose 14 lengths compare to beating Sizing Europe 19? With a further 6 back to Wishful Thinking.

You seem to be basing your facts on SS being all-out in the VC (which he wasn’t anywhere near) and Somersby being below his best (conjecture).
