    No doubt the BHA will look in to whether the guidelines need to be changed. But if guidelines are less vague, in certain situations it may stop groundstaff doing what they think is the right thing. Just in case it breaks the rules.

    "the right thing" in this case did not take too much working out – cone/tape the fence off and get the flagman much further down the course.

    Fair enough Joe, mistakes happen. It’s still up to jockeys to react. These rules are there to protect their lives after all.

    Indeed – I’ve made more mistakes than most but am always willing to apologise – seldom, if ever the case with BHA.
