Whether the process can be trusted or not isn’t what I was talking about – I explained how the process operates as per the opening thread, choosing to ignore the bit about whether it can be trusted or not as I couldn’t be bothered to get into that. It appears to me that several people then told me that the process I described wasn’t happening as the people operating the system were corrupting the prices. That is what I am questioning.
I have no wish to get drawn into long discussions about how ‘bent’ the SP process is as to be quite honest I can’t see what can be done about it so that you wouldn’t end up in a similar or very similar situation. Any changes implemented would, IMO, be little different to the "bent process" people are describing now. If "the exchanges" were to be involved in returning the SP, for example, you would be in exactly the same boat as the large firms can and do manipulate the exchange markets by flooding them with money if they so wish.
July 22, 2007 at 15:53 #108829Fair enough SL … the system was reformed to increase over-rounds from 1.4% per runner to around 2% per runner, but what we have now is more than 3% per runner in some races which can’t be returned by a fair or transparent process.
In addition to that this reform was carried out to increase money to the levy to fund racing and we are being told that despite this owners will be facing a 10% reduction in prize money from 2008 because there is less money coming to racing from the bookies ?!?!

On the contrary, Aragorn, both this issue and the betting code are connected.
