    The Curragh 3.30

    HARRY TIME
    Dropping in class,
Looks good enough to take this race at the Curragh.
Run well since debut win over the extended five.
Firstly in the Coventry behind Bradsell then in the close brothers where he was stopped in a run.
Minimum trip and an unimpeded journey may see him home best of all here.
    Mauiewowie
under Colin Keane is a danger having got close to lady Hollywood previously but harry time may be too classy here.

    Thank goodness for savers.
MAUIEWOWIE grinds down his rival at the line to frank the form of lady Hollywood race and there is a whole line of form running through her battles with Miss USA in the UK.

Jonathan Sheppard Handicap Hurdle (G1 )
Miss Woodford has alerted notice of this race taking place tonight at Saratoga 1805 in the big race section.
I’ve flagged up the fact that Danny Mullins has done a red-eye and gone transatlantic for just one ride in the daily lays and plays but it is worthy of a soul selection today.
If Frankie Detorri did it everyone would stand up and take note.
Keri Brion is the trainer and the horse is
    GO COUNTRY.

She met with some success coming over to Ireland during the pandemic and saddled a few decent winners.
Belfast Banter who is some horse also runs here and has graded experience.
I’ve gone for the win at the available odds of 16/1. The horse may go off better closer to flag fall.
Low in the weights and may be more of an each way hope than a winner, but if young Danny Mullins has made the effort then I’m all in too.
    Go Danny Boy!!
    GO COUNTRY.
    WIN
    £20 @ 16/1
    ———————————————-
No regrets with the choice but the winner snap decision was giving away huge weight and did it well. The price of my runner contracted hugely into an sp of 5/1.
He was a gallant second and the bookie has dinner on me tonight. The trainer of Going Country won the race last year with Mean Queen and gave it her best effort by booking Danny Mullins.

    York 3.35
Looks a class above these and the yard seem to be in good order right now. Honest effort from this particular horse and win or lose will give best. Group winner and beat the ARC winner comfortably

    York 3.35
Platinum Queen and Royal Acclaim are the highly touted favourites here.
But both are novices coming into a group race and despite their obvious chances are lays in my book. This is not a hugely strong line up which helps their chances.
A fifteen year cycle puts Hollie Doyle in the firing line on a two year old which would complete a third winner in consecutive 15 year periods for two year olds. The fact that the race throws up such long periods between drinks means its a pass for me and those that name me as their ancestor can go for that angle the next time the wheel of fortune turns in 2037.

    KHAADEM
a strong fancy in this field
    Each way
    ********************************************
All said, Hollie Doyle has an outside chance of bringing home that statistic given that she has two stone in hand of the top weight.
(And it is a 15 year trend which could become a 45 year trend if Hollie landed this third step in the sequence)
so I have upgraded this bet to a small win bet on
    Platinum Queen
    And
    Win
    KHAADEM
    Main bet.
Charlie Hills record in this race with Battash is the clincher.
(Money back as cash if second third or fourth)

Both selections ran well with khadaam cutting out the running before falling away for a full refund in fourth.
Platinum Queen could not match Highfield princess but ran well in second.
    Bonus selections is at
    KILLARNEY 7.30
Where Dad’s lad bids to make it a hat-trick of wins.
Won in taking style in a beginners chase before landing odds of 28/1 in a flat race at Galway last month. Makes handicap debut off a reasonable mark and will likely go close.
A danger is Gordon Elliott’s Gevrey off since pulled up at punchestown in April.

Listed race at Salisbury is the other bonus soul selection

Flying honours could well land the race here stepping up in class after a wide margin win. But the opposition were not up to much last time and he faces stiffer rivalry here.
CRACKOVIA can give the Godolphin horse most to do.
SIGNCASTLE CITY is also another who may handle the unique track.
Both hold outside chances of pushing the Godolphin runner closer than expected.

Flying honours has a decent engine and while crackovia made the running he did not turn out to be a main component in the race. Stormbomber turned out to be the key player and eventually followed the Godolphin horse home. Signcastle city was third.
Brave way has an excellent chance on handicap debut for Henry De Bromhead after a clearcut beginners chase win last time.
In the same ownership as Honeysuckle.

The thread is on a roll and the bonus races produced some profitable winners yesterday after hitting the bar stateside and at York.

Frankie Detorri in the first race at big meetings has always been a mainstay for many punters.
That looks to still be the case as he approaches the autumn of his career.

Oisin Murphy took up that mantle and did the same, often targeting the first race.
Unfortunately he copied Frankie a little too closely and crashed out of racing. I do hope he returns and no thanks to the racing authorities who gave him a free hand for so long. ( Remember they famously said at Newmarket one day, he was unfit to ride, but ok to drive!!)
    MIGHTY ULYSSES
    Win
Fits the bill at York in the opener.
Add to all that two other runners in this race very worthy of a mention.
    Alfaila and finest sound
Finest sound essentially false started last time out breaking the gates at flag fall and startled stood still briefly. This in turn startled the horse drawn on the inner (perrotto) and gave the other runner symbolize a three length lead. Finest sound went on regain the lead to make all.
Simon and Ed Crisford are 4/4 at York, while Owen Burrows rtf is huge.
So a combination forecast and trifecta here makes sense.

Rated 111 over hurdles. Close up second after error last fence behind Downtown Queen at Down Patrick. Third that day, Bella Bliss, seven lengths winner last week.
Good third behind Bonarc in a handicap hurdle.
Very good on the flat. beaten a nose at Dundalk when 66/1 and won a sht head on turf next run limerick in April last year @ 9s unbacked both times.

Rodney Bay was a good second but that’s two races drawn a blank since a decent return on a forecast nearing £60 on Saturday. Similar story today with an early forecast and nothing else. Notably they have both come in the opening race.

    SMILE OF LOVE
    Win
    Bellewstown 4.40
Had three maidens last year and on the CV was a third to Homeless Songs and a good run behind Limit Di Grecio.
Despite a year off came back this month to run a second to spring feeling off a mark of 82.
That should be more than enough to record a first win here following three rides by Colin Keane.

Yesterday a ten length winner in SMILE OF LOVE at Bellewstown.

Ger Lyons and Colin Keane combine with two decent chances in the opening races today

    BEAUTY CRESCENT
should prove too good for his rivals in the maiden. Main rival for Aidan O’Brien runs off a rating of 85. If returning up to his ability that looks too low to oppose a horse who may achieve black type and low 100s in due course

It is last chance salon for
    MIDNIGHT TOKER here.
Had pockets picked by ocean quest on debut who swooped late to split midnight Toker and a rival. Beaten favourite behind Aesop’s fable next time before again finding one too good in open market.
The world beater in that pack proved to be Aesop’s fable and a break and gelding puts MIDNIGHT TOKER in a much better light.
A nursery debut in calmer waters may turn the salon into a saloon.

    BEAUTY CRESCENT
Win single and win double with
    MIDNIGHT TOKER

Going against the grain yesterday with a winner on this thread in the opener in Ireland.

    Tipperary 4.50
    LIBRARY
    Win
    MARSH LOCK each way

.A curious race at Leopardstown last time out for
Library where the jockey dallied around the home turn and appeared to looking for someone.
Sure enough maybe just maybe went past 50 yards from the line to beat his stable mate. No questions asked.
The form was not franked next time out and maybe just maybe finished well beaten.
Library should not have anymore issues today and with benefit of two runs should get home here. Newcomer Marsh LOCK looks to be the best bred runner related to a guineas winner.
    Andy Slattery rides.
