Hi Jimmy. Yes that was impressive on first run back.
    4.30
    Roscommon
    GERI HATRICK
    Each way
Drops back in trip after a good four lengths second over a mile to a horse who ran well in third subsequently to Emily Upjohn in England.
No show on arrival in Ireland over 11 furlongs. This run over seven furlongs on soft should suit more.
Plankton for Ger Lyons should win this bred out of a dam related to a group winner, but may well need this first run on this ground. With Schiele a non runner he is way too short for a horse yet to see a race track

Gerri hat-trick was pulled up with something amiss after showing up well for a way.

    TOUGHASOLDBOOTS
    Win
Sole runner and sole ride for champion jockey and trainer Donald McCain earlier pulled off a good win with Paul Mulrenhan at Wolverhampton with nacho. Faces a highly rated odds on favourite here who is actually 0/14 and worth opposing. Gets a decent weight pull on rules debut after two placed efforts in points.
Unassessable but after schooling with McCain is in good hands and will give the favourite most to do.

    Bath 1.15.
    Blue Hero
    Sister and brother
    Bobby Kennedy
    Combination trifecta.
Looks a race between these three with blue Hero and sisterandbrother having met last time with the Milton Harris runner winning on debut for yard from Mick channon.
Not certain to get this trip so combination trifecta the three.

I wasn’t expecting anybody else to spy out this runner when looking at the race earlier, unfortunately they have and
    BILLY WEDGE
    Newcastle 8.05
Has been bashed in from 33s.
The argument about the value all gone is reasonable but it doesn’t affect the chances of a horse winning,if it had one.
what would have been an each way is a win bet.
Well treated bottom weight here (just about) and one of only three course and distance winners. Head to heads show huge superiority over both of those rivals.
The other positive is the jockey B.Mchugh who has ridden some good turns on this horse, two wins and places.

Both very well treated and both well drawn.

    ULTIMATE GETAWAY
    I like these ” matches”
The market often jumps onto the favourite for no discernable reason, other than ‘sexy’ stable. This appears to be the case here.
Fergal O’Brien’s runner has the trip in this sphere and gets a stone from the Skelton horse.
The third horse gets a pull too at the weights and needs respect. There are a few more factors to consider but at first sight Ultimate Getaway should be favourite, not the Skelton runner which shoulders top weight in this handicap and is not gauranteed to get the trip, ( has placed form at the trip, but the weight carried here is almost a winning penalty) is still a maiden and will likely have to make the pace, before being taken on for the lead at the business end.
*(Sail away has a win in the book a hurdle on soft going in France 3 years ago.)*
Has run well at a good standard without getting in front, but the clincher for me is the weight impost of 13lbs. Sail away is rated superior by some way but the weight really can tell here and the rating is based on places and potential……

    HURRICANE GEORGIE
    Win
    Is thrown in here.(potentially)
Rated a full thirty pounds plus higher over the bigger obstacles.
This handicap hurdle is limited to those rated up to 109. Ran second to clondaw Hollow over hurdles who subsequently won again rated 116.

    WEXFORD
    GONDOR
Returns from a long lay following a crashing fall two out when last seen and cruising in the lead.
Should go well here if fit.
    Can only watch.
    Gondor
    ———————————————-

GONDOR Defied a lay off of over 500 days to come home in second place.
SAIL AWAY was everything the market said he was. Visually much bigger and stronger than his two rivals. He indeed was a class apart and readily gave the weight away to win by a wide margin.
Luckily HURRICANE GEORGIE was correctly identified as “well in” going handicapping with a rating 2 stone 4 pounds lower than her chase mark. Always prominent gradually worked way to the front and came home with little fuss to win easily.

    CRISPY CAT
    Sandown
    6.15
Listed class already and just denied by Royal Ascot bound Ballydoyle runner Blackbeard.
Form franked again. Rossa Ryan takes the ride on the Irish raider.
    Democracy Dilemma
place ( additional place if available)
Got to the front at York and stayed there.
Opposition didn’t look up to much but gave a good impression. Might well be happening all too quickly In this class of race but place hope.

    Excellent win for Maria Branwell.
I’ve just picked up on Hugh Taylor’s notes he wrote …

“MARIA BRANWELL’s debut win at Thirsk came in a time/sectional combination that compared very well with the race that followed over the same distance for older horses, and she can confirm that positive impression in the National Stakes at Sandown (6.15).

Her winning time was only 0.08 seconds slower than that of the 70-rated winner Atiyah of the 0-85 handicap which followed, and she carried 6lb more than the older filly.

Moreover, I made her well over a second quicker over the closing couple of furlongs than Atiyah, despite showing definite signs of greenness.

I’m taking a high opinion of that performance for the time being and although she doesn’t look the biggest, she looks an extremely speedy two-year-old and she might be hard to beat here”
That is exceptional tipping, hats off to Hugh Taylor.
    ———————————————
It was probably the speed of Democracy Dilemma early on forcing the pace that led to Crispy cat committing sooner than necessary. The five pound allowance and measured ride saw Maria Branwell well on top at the end..
Democracy Dilemma well worth backing again in future set a searing pace and will be difficult to beat in lesser company, having ridden in two listed races now.

    Salisbury 8.45
    Eight of diamonds
    Buxted reel
    Both have valid claims here.
Both ran good races in second place with eight of diamonds looking like this full 1mile 4 furlongs will suit well.
Eight of Diamonds/buxted reel reverse forecast

    While John O’Shea
    HARVIE WALLBANGER
Is a winning pointer who was sold for 80k in April 21. Reading into the absence this yard are dual code who excel on the flat and these two runners should be clear of the field.
    Reverse forecast
    Win
    CAPE VIDAL
    ———————————————

Buxted Reel just failed beaten a head @ 3/1 with Eight of Diamonds in third.
Harvie Wallbanger ran on very well and could have taken second. Understandably he wasn’t given a hard time of it with future races in mind and will have pleased connections.
Cape Vidal ran very well on debut.

Earlier in the last at Navan the well backed
    Innamoraree was third @ 12/1.

    JOHN BETJAMIN
    Disqualification farce
    John Betjamin
Fought out a driving finish in a race where the final hurdles were omitted. This meant a two furlong flat race on a very narrow straight between dolled off hurdles with flagman on the course and horses also racing between two courses.
Despite the handicap John Betjamin was penalised for impeding his rival when hanging right. He won by a clear half length margin.
One of the worst decisions (given the mitigating circumstances) I can think of. A horse which wouldn’t have won getting a decision handed on a plate.

I’ve worked out the name of my new thread and it’ll be up and running as soon as there is something worthy of selection.
A whole host of results recently have confirmed lengthy research into a phenomena which I believe overtime will yield decent returns. In the meantime, a short priced winner…
Cartmel’s opening race gives the inform yard of Donald McCain an excellent opportunity to continue their great run.
SAYWHATYOUWANT has transferred yards from Ireland and has the steady hands of champion jockey Brian Hughes.
He has a listed narrow nose defeat on the flat which turned out to be his last run for jack Davidson. An opening third in a listed stakes race too. A very short flat career before joining Gordon Elliott.
Raced against the best juvenile hurdlers either side of the sea including Vauban and Pied Piper.

*A first selection for the musical truth thread in the systems section for a very long time.

This horse in receipt of a stone from the field is impossible to oppose and will be a major suprise if this one is beaten.
Speed may be an issue but given the experience already enjoyed on the flat, ticks every box and a fall looks to be the only danger here.
    SAYWHATYOUWANT @ 6/5 (bog)
    Win
    1.40
    Cartmel
    MAXIMUM WIN BET
Prime time lady’s winning margin last time out was impressive and she rates a big danger here but the penalty she receives and the weight age allowance amounts to over a stone.
Given that, the 5/1 about the winning margin of five lengths offered against SAYWHATYOUWANT is also recommended.

SAYWHATYOUWANT to win by FIVE LENGTHS or more
    @ 5/1.
It may be that SAYWHATYOUWANT will need the run but it is interesting that both runners are odds against in the market and clearly little is know about the ex Elliott runner.

The bottom weight has it all to do but on balance I find it a tantalizing proposition.
