    CATIVO RAGAZZO
    Each way
    OCEAN EYES
    Win
    Ocean eyes.
Neck second to million reasons last time.
Million reasons a non runner here.
    Cativo Ragazzo
Very regressive, but ran freely last time and showed not a little ability. Basement mark now but well drawn and jockey would not be winning out of turn.
Up against Hugh Taylors runner and his army of followers which is not a problem as I’m “roughly” 3 winners from three races where I’ve taken on his selections this week.

    NOCTE VOLATUS
    Win
    Catterick 4.10
Second visit to the thread for this runner.
Went right through the wing of the first fence last time and duly hacked up next time.
Very well treated on that chase form and runs off a significantly low mark for this test over hurdles. Add to that Dylan Kitts’ 10 lb claim and the horse is well treated to the tune of one stone 6lbs plus. Now all the horse has to do is tackle that opening hurdle….

    Newcastle 6.15
    The unbeaten
TYRRHENIAN SEA entered for the Lincoln next month goes up against USS MICHIGAN tonight at Newcastle and whilst there is no bet here the ex Aidan O’Brien runner was a big imposing horse when last seen over 900 days ago and debuts for James Ferguson whose Mis en Scene is entered in the Curragh 1000 guineas.
Among the usual suspects lining up is KEYSER SOCE who could also run well.
    _______________________________________
On a blank here so betting USS MICHIGAN without the favourite.
    ———————————————-
Good result with USS MICHIGAN a winner @ 11/8 without the favourite. Tyrrhenian Sea was the impressive race winner.
Nocte Volantus dominated the hurdle race only to crash out when the clear leader two fences out.

    GIT MAKER
    WIN
    Carlisle 1230
Runs in the opener at carlisle ( novice hurdle) showed flashes of decent quality on debut and had clearly progressed from winning point to points in Ireland. Kept finding more and showed real galloping speed to go clear pulling away between fences on three significant occasions.
Will make a very good hurdler in time and holds an entry in the Ballymore. Up against some good ones here but nothing that should trouble him if he is to get to the festival.
Another relative newcomer to look out for here is the Skelton’s
    APOTHICARE
    Each way
shown very little in two rules starts But is just the sort they excel with and may show significant improvement now in this company under champion jockey.

    Fontwell 1.15

    KOTMASK
    Win
    MONGOL EMPEROR
    Each way
    Gary Moore’s Kotmask
Makes his handicap debut today faces a tough task against experienced types but at least runs off a low mark and bottom weight.
    KOTMASK
    Win double with
GIT MAKER in the first at carlisle.

    MONGOL EMPEROR
    fontwell 1.15
    Each way double with

    APOTHICARE in Carlisle opener.

    Carlisle
    1pm
    SAINTE MHOR
    WIN
    Lucinda Russell.
stable going well. Good winner yesterday and two runners found one just too good in the same race. Dropping down to last winning mark.

    Was all going so well.
But happy with GIT MAKER a hard fought winner against a good rival. Apothicare following in third for a 33/1 each way return.
Will not have done Git maker’s Ballymore claims any harm but faces some decent rivals there who have the advantage of better racing opportunities and bigger fields over there which mix the quality of fields.
Runner to come in the bumper section.

Nice 33/1 third among the excess and Git Maker a good winner.

    1pm mras
    BOLD PLAN
    Win
This looks more realistic than the Lanzarote last time and is a big drop in class which may well revive this horse’s flagging fortunes.

    1.35 mras
    COOL JET
    Each way
Makes what is essentially hurdles debut here following a non event at Newcastle for Brian Ellison. Burst blood vessels and since undergone wind surgery.
Exclusive CV in Irish bumpers which includes
Dysart Dynamo, Sir Gerhard in different races finished a total of 50 plus lengths behind. Races which have produced a string of winners.
Brian Hughes takes over in the saddle and no suprise to see big improvement here.

    Taunton
    3.35
    Dr T J ECKLEBURG
    Win
Will find things a lot tougher going handicapping but gets all the wfa and has claims off basement mark and weight.

Two from three with Dr TJ Ekleberg absolutely cruising coming to the second last. Had to work harder from there but a very taking win.
Bold Plan a game winner with that hint of class.
Regrettably I am the only person who can pick out Brian Hughes losing runners and yesterday my selection in the bumpers was well behind a Hughes winner. As meatloaf said “two outta three ain’t bad…”

Opener at Ludlow odds on shot.
    1pm
    Ile de Jersey 🌎
    Win.
Looks another good recruit to the juvenile hurdle ranks by top trainer Nicky Henderson.
Won a race in the french provinces by 15 lengths. This is a familiar route, bringing his newcomers to Ludlow and he faces essentially just two rivals on all known form.
The main advantage they hold is race fitness, and although there is no substitute for class he will certainly have to work very hard here indeed to land the spoils.
stable jockey Nico de Boinvlle takes the ride rather than a claimer so the penalty is clearly not seen as a deterrent to the horse’s chances.
One word of caution if it gets too tough Ile De Jersey will not be knocked about. I just think he will have that little bit of class about him to land this affair….

We have yet to see the best of Dan Skelton’s
LAKOTA WARRIOR yet and judging by his head second to Gerri columbe over points this Will come when he tackles further as that Irish runner has gone on unbeaten in several runs under rules.
Perhaps we will get a glimpse this afternoon when he takes on the biggest field yet at 2pm Ludlow still running over an inadequate minimum trip.
    LAKOTA WARRIOR
    2pm
    Win.

    Win double with
    Ile de Jersey
    1pn
    Ludlow
    ———————————————
Lakota Warrior was an odds on shot heading into shark infested waters carrying a penalty up against hardened competitors and as is often the case came up wanting. Knocked the profit from a very strong selection in Nicky Henderson’s newcomer, who did the job nicely. So the soul selection which is running at a good rate needs a little fine tinkering which will up the strike rate. One or two more flat selections and the addition of the intended tricast races, coupled with a rise in the grade of races. But overall very happy with this thread. Very few Irish races get into the thread, so that will also change.
TBF very decent winners most days on this thread.

    13.45 Thurles
    4 – GENTLEMAN DE MEE @ 8/11
    Win

    14.55

    2 – BARBADOS win W/O Adamantly Chosen @ 4/7
Very decent hurdle run behind subsequent graded runner who will be no suprise if seen winning at Cheltenham next month. Hot runner also here from top yard and although questions to answer, take added safety net of win without the likely favourite.

    Thu 15:30

    1 – ASH TREE MEADOW @ 8/13
    Win

    Thu 16:00
    FALCON EIGHT
High class recruit from the flat chester cup winner and btn favourite at Royal Ascot recently. Not suited by tacky humid ground.
Excellent hurdles debut behind three high class bumper winners two of who have won since Kilcruit and Minella crooner. Notably Mullins has withdrawn his intended runner and Noel Meade has the services of Paul Townsend.
    1 – FALCON EIGHT @ 5/4
    Win
    1700
    O’MOORE PARK
    Win
Given a ton of work held up for a long time. Got up to challenge but could not reach rival having been allowed a free lead for most of the race. Gone to Mullins and will have been schooled to race up with the pace off the bridle and given finishing position last time may well win convincingly here.

    Bangor hunter chase
    ANOTHER VENTURE
    Win without
    Porlock Bay
    @ 11/10
new recruit to hunter chase for Nicky Henderson.
Pulled up in the Kim Muir last year.
Porlock Bay using this race as prep for foxhunters 🦊 at Cheltenham.
    First race since then.
Prepped for foxhunters last year with a second at Ludlow in debut for yard having raced in France. Targeted specifically at Cheltenham then and unlikely to be knocked about here.

Another venture has gained two placed runs for new yard including a hunter chase last time out and a competitive affair on debut back at Cheltenham.
Compared to much of this field looks an above average recruit to the sphere. Now rated lower than last win and likely to make a bold bid.
I think Another Venture can win this but the recommendation is win without Porlock Bay 🌎.

    ——————————————–
The situation has changed one less runner and another venture has drifted out to 8/1 and the favourite has come in.
Cannot go unbacked at that price from 4s.
ANOTHER VENTURE each way @ 8/1 or better. Jockey seeking a first win and a real chance here. Porlock Bay could be different class but this is his first run since Cheltenham last year and likely to be only run before next month.

    7.30
At dundalk is an obvious choice to win here.
Not often a group horse runs in handicaps or races here.
Makes a good replacement for the earlier selection.

    Journey with me
Is a classy sort and almost makes it into the section entered in the big race at Cheltenham.

But that accolade is reserved for
    MIGHTY BLUE
    Naas 2.50
Returning from a summer break as
Joseph O’Briens only runner of the day which is unusual.
This horse has raced listed class over turf up to a mark of 106 and was rated 133 in the Mares novice hurdle at Cheltenham where she was third. Returned to the flat in may to win.
Today’s contest is a maiden hurdle and she ought to be good enough to see off Goven here.
Has to handle a six month break but has a very good opportunity to win over hurdles at this level.
    Win
    And win without Goven.
    ——————————————-
The fate if this wager was clear a long way out and race fitness told.
This MIGHTY BLUE looks a very interesting proposition for the Melbourne cup in my opinion if he is eligible.
Mighty Blue lost little in defeat but Mullins had gone on record beforehand as saying he’d would be very disappointed if Goven didn’t win the race. I wish I had taken the hint!!

Ciel neige and deploy The Getaway are strong fancies’ to come out on top in their races at punchestown today.

    Punchestown

Shady operator is a strong fancy to win the opener.
He beat his stablemate today easily giving weight away last time and now gets a big weight pull.
Deploy The Getaway can win his race but the danger is Largy debt.
Well worth taking the insurance of using the WIN WITHOUT option as Deploy The Getaway is second favourite here and that may well have changed come the off so getting the caveat of win without at 13/8 now could pay dividends….
Ciel neige is another strong fancy here.

    CIEL NEIGE win
    SHADY OPERATOR win
DEPLOY THE GETAWAY win without Largy debt 13/8
    Win singles and win treble.

    Win.
    Is the bonus selection.
The mount of the jockey of the moment.
Very good third on reappearance behind Al Tariq. Was staying on and that one was third in the guineas on Friday behind Azure Coast ridden by today’s jockey A.Fresu.

    SHOMEN UCHI
    Win

Is a rare bumper selection for the thread.
He ran a subsequent hurdles winner to within a neck and could go straight to hurdles and win there if stable wanted.
They persevere in flat racing and go to the last at Hereford where they are most likely to come away with the cash.
He is unpenalised for the race second which was hotly contested by four runners. With the winner franking the form over hurdles next time, he is a strong choice to get home first today.

    KELSO
97 rated 2 mile flat winner for Ballydoyle in the past before going to Ralph Beckett.
This Galileo gelding could give a good account on hurdles debut. Important thing is he has the distance and with being off a long time there has been an opportunity to school him.
Longshot but well bred and two of these five carry penalties.
