Yes Daz, my man Wilson had a great result today.
Anyone bar O’Sullivan would be fine with me preference for Wilson

That Wilson/McGill last frame will go down in folklore
McGill was unlucky when splitting the pack which gave Wilson a life then it looked like Wilson had won until missed an easy blue then all that drama on the colours…

The other semi final wasn’t too shabby either Looks like Ronnie will tear your book to pieces, Nathan. First rule of gambling – always keep the likely winner onside

About time he won it again,
7 years and counting for Ronnie he is turning into the Manchester United of the PL
Wilson has the game to take him, looking forward to it

Does anyone know the rules about the miss rule?

In the last frame McGill never got out of the snooker and when McGill needed snookers due to him not being able to hit the ball all them times and giving them points away, the referee didn’t call it a miss any more, even though Mcgill was never nearer to hitting the ball he was aiming for. Why did the ref do that?

The miss rule does not apply once snookers are required.

Not sure what Selby was going on about saying O’Sullivan was being disrespectful. Hit and hope is a perfectly legitimate tactic and often works out better than overthinking it.

Just wish O’Sullivan would stop this boring routine about not having a cue action. How can you do a total clearance of 138 and not be able to cue? That is being disrespectful – he is basically saying he has won while playing rubbish.

I hope Wilson wins although I doubt he will. O’Sullivan’s comments about his game and opponents has just become tedious now.

Agree, I think didn’t see the whole game but Selby should have kept putting Ronnie in those sort of positions and let him play that way as he’d leave him in more often than not.
If Wilson can frustrate Ronnie to similar tactics it will help his chances

O’Sullivan is disrespectful most times he opens his mouth, however, the rather bizarre tactics he chose to employ against Selby ultimately worked. Selby wasn’t quite at his best and both finalists had more than their fair share of luck. Basically, Wilson bottled it – he is not in full control of his emotions in big matches yet.

Ronnie has displayed short bursts of absolute genius throughout the championship but overall his game is presently wildly inconsistent. Kyren has made another step forward by reaching the final, however, his cue ball control, whilst improved, is still short of very top class.

The finalists’ respective styles of play will suit each other in what will be a very open contest. I would suggest that Wilson needs to take advantage of his more reliable long potting and the chance that O’Sullivan will have one session in which he looks like an amateur to build a huge lead and then fall over the line. Anything less than a 15-10 lead going into the final session and Wilson is toast.

Selby blew the deciding frame, his safety play came up short which let Ronnie in. Apart from that not a lot he could do. When it was 14-14 O Sullivan got impatient and went hit and hope for everything. It didn’t work for the first 2 frames which gave Selby the 16-14 but worked in the next 2 frames to make it 16-16. Then O Sullivan stopped the hit and hope as he got himself to the decider and played the frame properly and won it.
I’ll be cheering on Kyren in the final but he needs to be ruthless and punish the O Sullivan mistakes in order to win.

    Exactly, Mike.

Well, what an atrocius standard in the first session of the final – both players should be embarrassed. Suppose that’s what happens when the two losing semi-finalists both deserved to win! Surely that was Ronnie’s bad session and he’s 6-2 up! Could be an 18-5!

Yes, that was really poor. I suppose there was always a chance it could be an anti-climax after those semi finals.

I reckon Hendry is right and it is all over already. It will be unless Wilson can win the evening session but I cannot see it happening.

Wilson will be kicking himself a little at not winning that last frame as 9-8 down would have been a result from 8-2.
10-7 still not out of it and if Ronnie plays the same tomorrow then Wilson will have a chance, can’t afford to lose the afternoon session but a 4-4 will keep him just about alive going into the night

By my earlier reckoning Wilson needs all 8 afternoon frames to have a chance! The way Ronnie played today Kyren should have taken advantage and be on course for 15-10, however, Kyren played even worse. It’s an appalling standard.

They experts are blaming the table saying the bounce off the bottom cushion is springing and that the pocket’s are tighter than in previous rounds.
I think Wilson was nervous this afternoon but was striking the ball better tonight so that could settle him and he should be more confident tomorrow but I do think that last frame was damaging to him.
