    Well said Tank. :good:

People often exaggerate to make a point and/or taken out of context by others.
A lot of races were lost by the whip in Mr Shoemaker’s native USA at the time he said that. Where there were very few whip rules – if any… Getting horses unbalanced. Many using it with what would be understood now as extreme force, excessive frequency and/or in the wrong place… And their whip was nothing like as cushioned as our Racing whips are today.

These days some races are still lost by the whip, but many many more would be lost without it.

I think that Stan Mellor held similar views to Shoemaker regarding the whip. Then again, I think I may be going off the topic of this thread.

Ginge, Ham on the back of his dachshund is only a 33/1 chance. You should see his dachshund

Not sure Lester Piggott would agree – he won a lot of races riding finishes that would horrify many nowadays.

Give Nico De Boinville a call, he just highlighted his claims in the 1.25 Warwick! I’d have Skelton all day long!

Surely no one doubts Skelton being champion trainer in the very near future , if he,s going to get there then he,s going to have to be winning grade 1 Inc at the festival , I’ve no doubt this year’s stable is the most talented he,s ever had and I’ll be surprised he doesnt win one of the big ones , TTL has to improve to win a Arkle ….he can , as for Shah blue he was going to win the Charlie Hall by half a circuit , we don’t know how good this horses can be , I certainly wouldn’t be saying they can’t win at this point

Jac, I don’t if it would be a wise move to give more horses to his grilfriend. that wouldn’t be good for anyone.
But he is only a Monday – Thursday jockey. Rides places like market Rasen or Southwell very well. And he has the odd good ride in a big-race. Mostly when you don’t expect him to do so.

Badly out of form. Their three best horses, with the exception of Protektorat, ran no sort of races at all.
