So my casually-thrown-in reserves did better than my carefully selected first choices. Hmm. I’m not sure what to make of that.

I know the feeling Pandora, my 3 bombed whilst 1 of my 2 reserves scoots in at 18/1

Not moaning here TKF as you do a great job but what’s the ruling with TheBannerKingRebel? I thought the 11:50 Gowran deadline was for Gowran races.

TBKR ran at Haydock and I posted him up 4 minutes before the race was scheduled to start (it was actually delayed a few minutes after the scheduled time – bloody Haydock!).

Just wondering what the rule is with getting entries in. Seems a tad harsh that’s all.

I sympathise with your view that the deadlines are harsh Middle of March, but they were always enforced by Jac and don’t really want to depart from tradition too much (see the 26th January competition (https://theracingforum.co.uk/forums/topic/select-3-horses-to-win-on-saturday-26th-january-2019/page/2/).

“All entries must be posted before the deadlines stated each Saturday.” is stipulated in the rules and I’m somewhat forced to follow that, particularly as other players have observed the deadlines so far this season (3 players last week, for instance).

Would be open to reverting to a similar rule to Bob’s 4PP whereby entries are permitted providing they are before the advertised off time of the race, if that’s what people would prefer?

Sadly MOM did miss the deadline for his horse which was 10 minutes before the first race meeting of the day which was Gowran Park ..sadly it happens but the deadline rules were introduced because the Forum clock was not always reliable, always running late/early so it guaranteed that we all had our bets in on time.. Later I introduced the 2nd deadline for those who had missed out on the first and then the late night racing deadline for those who had overslept after a heavy night out ;-) ..so plenty of chances to enter. Sorry if you thought that it was harsh MOM the deadline has always been there ;-) for 10 years that I ran the compy and a little leeway (3 or 4 minutes) but never more than 5 minutes late is considered ok I don’t think you knew that Krypton. (unwritten rule :mail: )

It’s your competition now Krypton so if you want to change deadline rules that’s all ok with me if everyone else is in agreement have it like Bob’s 4PP :good: Perhaps rewrite the rules and you can delete mine..that’s all ok you’re in charge.

As MOM says you are doing a great job and thank you for taking it on Krypton. :good:

It was always meant to be fun Krypton so if all else agree I would be happy to let MOM have his point as he was unsure of the first race rules and then draw the line or rewrite the rules if you wish, it’s not like it was a 20/1 Nap..I think you would agree. :good: :good: Jac …Let’s enjoy our compy :yahoo:

Hi Jac, TFK & MOM , Neil here! :rose:

First let’s start by saying my mum said that I’m too honest for my own good, and Dad give me view of always playing fair. Actually he was fair as long as it was his team getting the benefit, but no one is perfect.

Deadlines are there for a purpose, it’s so we’re playing on a level playing field. The later deadlines are a good idea Jac, but if I may make a suggest here. How’s about the deadline being before the advertise time of the earliest race picked by the contestant, which includes subs. :good:

For example my laptop says the time is 14:25 so the time on my post should correspond!

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Good suggestion Neil..over to Krypton to decide. I’m happy with changes to the deadline as long as we’re all agreed and the Forum clock is behaving.
Your suggestion would certainly mean that there us no panic to submit choices and no edits allowed of course unless in separate post, it’s up to Krypton  Jac

I do hope they are no cheaters here. If the was I fully support TKF in giving them a good talking to and possibly a lecture on percentages from Gingerstiper. :negative:

I’m happy to go with the flow of what everyone wants as like Jac says its only really a bit of fun although no harm in it being competitive too.
Personally I prefer the deadline before racing starts but no biggie if it changes.

Decided to implement Neil’s suggestion going forward, and given it’s only 1 point I’ll add Middle Of March’s The Banenrkingrebel score retrospectively.
