Was never really in doubt, was much the best

Bit of luck with a plus tard coming out but we will certainly take it :good:

He would have beaten APT anyway I reckon.

I don’t think he’d have got within ten lengths of the A Plus Tard that was at Cheltenham back in March.

But he’d have obviously hammered the one at Haydock Park and maybe beaten the horse he might now be.

Conflated is decent, but though he won comfortably I don’t think that’s quite Cheltenham Gold Cup form.

Won the race well enough but he’s beaten sub standard/past their prime opposition so it’s nothing to get too excited about.

I’m also beginning to wonder where we’re going to see APT again. Straight to Cheltenham? He won’t run in that tin pot race on NYD at tramore so you wonder where he’s gonna get his Cheltenham prep now. Sky bet chase at Donny maybe? :yahoo: :yahoo:

    1. It’s sacrilege it’s not called the Great Yorkshire any more.

    2. Is there a ratings ceiling on entry nowadays? Time was when it was Yorkshire’s Hennessy, but it’s years since anything Cheltenham Gold Cup material ran in it – Bregawn in 1982?

Ian I think it has its own rating ceiling on it. A 1st place prize pot of something like 16k usually means any horse rated above 140 gives it a swerve :bye:

APT would probably say “I’m not getting out of me stable for less than 100k so stick your Yorkshire chase up your jacksie pal”

It’s certainly not the race it once was, TC.

It used to be 3m2f and I saw Autumn Rain beat Lucius (won the Grand National that season) in 1978 and as stated Bregawn won it in 1982.

“They might enter him in the cotswold chase”

Only three horses have ever completed the double, and the last of those was in 2000.

Doubt they’ll aim for that race. It’ll be DRF or straight to the Gold Cup.

Pulled on soft at Chelt, never seemed to have shown much form in the Spring…I wouldn’t say he’s a prime example of being straightforward?

Sorry Jack , are you saying any horse who pulls up isn’t straight forward then ? , by the way he hasn’t pulled up , as for the spring hes only 7 and has only ran 3 times in the spring , 2 of these inc a 2nd and 3rd , this year he,s won the Charlie Hall and also the KG , maybe just maybe at 7 he,s still improving ….
