That was special.
Value Is EverythingDecember 28, 2024 at 14:45 #1716799Once again majestic!
How he sprinted towards the line, brilliant.
December 28, 2024 at 14:48 #1716801Monster performance, properly put them to the sword once again – Leopardstown is his course for sure but Fact To File was still travelling ominously well jumping two out but I think the 3m trip might be as far as he wants to go unless they can get him to settle a bit more in the early stages, as GDC was drawing right away at the line.
If he turns up at Cheltenham in that form then I think a 3 peat is a foregone conclusion and he is still only 8 turning 9.
December 28, 2024 at 14:48 #1716802Incredible performance, despite the stable being a bit under form over the last few days.
He remains by far the most exciting NH horse in training.December 28, 2024 at 14:54 #1716803Paul struggling to pull him up again
What a horseDecember 28, 2024 at 14:57 #1716805I think you’re right LD. If Fact To File doesn’t settle better in his next race then – if it’s soft at Cheltenham – it could be the Ryanair for him.
Value Is EverythingDecember 28, 2024 at 15:07 #1716813A very special horse.
Easily the best staying chaser since the great Kauto Star.
If he stays sound,I can’t see what beats him in March.
I think Willie should skip the Dublin Festival with him now and save everything for the third Gold Cup attempt.
December 28, 2024 at 15:08 #1716815Fact to File will run in the GC , JP isn’t scared to have a go
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 28, 2024 at 15:09 #1716816Very commanding performance that jump at the last was fantastic then he just pulled away.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 28, 2024 at 15:10 #1716819You mean Denman GM lol , could you imagine GDC and Denman going to war in a GC ….if only
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 28, 2024 at 15:13 #1716821Superb horse

He’s got Corbetts Cross for GC. Spillane’s Tower was short in the King George so Fact To File could be his best chance of a winner in either race.
December 28, 2024 at 15:14 #1716823Fact to File is his GC horse , he’s the young pretender
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 28, 2024 at 15:16 #1716824GDC will follow last year’s route, next up the Irish Gold Cup on 1 February which fits in nicely with Cheltenham as it is a day short of 6 weeks between them, but I do think the one race they shouldn’t run him in is the Punchestown Gold Cup as he has never been the same horse there after winning the Gold Cup.
December 28, 2024 at 15:18 #1716825It wouldn’t surprise me if he went straight there
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 28, 2024 at 15:22 #1716827Trainer tends to be a creature of habit so likely Irish Gold Cup again.
December 28, 2024 at 15:31 #1716832Also agree that Fact To File will run in the Gold Cup but nothing I have seen today suggests to me that he will want to be going another 2f especially up that unforgiving Cheltenham hill that finds out those suspect stayers every time.
Even if they were to be able to get him to settle better early on, I don’t think he is a strong enough stayer at the Gold Cup trip and I could well see him in the future going to races like the Ryanair, Melling Chase and Punchestown Gold Cup.
Corbetts Cross would be a better proposition staying wise in the Gold Cup (won the National Hunt Chase over 3m6f on heavy ground) but I just don’t think he has the class or jumping ability to keep him in contention long enough to where his stamina would come into play – Spillane’s Tower I would give another chance to as he never seemed to take to Kempton on that quicker ground where it seemed to be happening all a bit quick for him – soft/heavy ground (which he has done much of his winning on) at Cheltenham might well suit him better.
GDC is on another level and at the moment his rivals only seem to be able to beat him either at a shorter trip (John Durkan) or at the end of the season race when it seems to be a one race too many situation.
