What was the jockey doing on mucho gusto in that final furlong? Someone please watch that back and tell me im not crazy at what my eyes tell me i seen… kept looking back, horse went unbalanced at a crucial point, lost the race he should have won…
February 29, 2020 at 18:43 #1484285It looked a proper mess Ham!! He seemed to be almost trying to block the winner
February 29, 2020 at 18:52 #1484287I had backed him and with about two furlongs to run I was just wondering how easy he’d win the race. Then all of a sudden he seemed to have both hands on the hand-brake or the horse was just getting too tired. Can’t recall a slower final furlong on dirt in such perfect conditions. Maybe the amount of sand is a lot higher inside the final furlong than at any other place of the track. But, it looked very very strange…. to say the least.
March 1, 2020 at 16:03 #1484356Looks like he set the pace for the winner, who trailed him around the final bend and carried on in his slipstream in the home straight.
There was a moment’s indecision wether to go inside or outside him.
Unwittingly or otherwise he was certainly used by the winner as a pacemaker.
Really did appear that he was the second string and the prize money for minor places was huge.
That is how it looked to me.
There could be lots of other explanations.March 1, 2020 at 16:07 #1484357Mike Smith got an 8 day ban and was fined 60% of his earnings for the ride.
What are the rules in Saudi Arabia? Can they race on lasix?
March 1, 2020 at 16:44 #1484359Irad Ortiz is a top class jockey, never seen such a crap by him before. He really looked and waited for MS to pass him, maybe he was paid by “the lads” for this?
March 1, 2020 at 17:23 #1484363The lads bought a share of the winner prior to the race for about 7 million (dollars, pounds, no idea).
The only thing that counts to them is breeding success and you can expect that this horse has reached an unmeasurable value after yesterday’s win. Why not making sure that everything goes to plan?
March 2, 2020 at 08:17 #1484409Proper mess, he definitely was wanting to know where max was, he definitely stopped riding for a second and he definitely caused the horse to lose momentum and go unbalanced, i dont understand how smith got a massive fine but irad didnt, this is up there with one of the most “controversial” rides ive ever seen, im not one for conspiracies, especially in £9 million races or whatever it was to the winner, but wow its hard to look at that race and figure out from a fair & honest perspective what he was doing,
I doubt its a second string theory when they are trained by different people And owned by different people, isnt mucho owned by the saudi arabian prince or whatever ?
Glad i didnt bet in it, looked as rigged as a race has ever seen and i literally have never said this about a race before let alone in the richest race in history
Crazy stuff
Ps: is it even possible to pay anyone in this race off? There all billionaire owners…
April 23, 2020 at 13:51 #1487559I’m sure most are aware of the post-race doping allegations. Here is the indictment detail for four accused (not Servis): https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/press-release/file/1256646/download

Golden Shaheen winning and Kentucky Derby “winning” trainers facing dope charges and possible prison sentences.
Value Is EverythingMay 3, 2020 at 19:05 #1487853What did people make of Saudi Arabia’s new flagship? There was a lot of talk of sport washing after the event.
May 10, 2020 at 11:58 #1488003So Midnight Bisou could well land this race and Benbatl may be second!!Even Mucho Gusto with aforementioned dodgy ride could be placed which the horse would richly deserve.
Maximum Security to lose two group races in a season?
Had this come to the public domain earlier…
No Maximum Security present,1st Mucho Gusto
