3.00 Ascot 2yo Maiden
Only one of these has raced so some "educated" guesswork required.
I think the principals may have been drawn on the outside in this one ie.
Drawnfromthepast
Hold That Call
Yem Kinn
One drawn on the inside Paveroc is also worth watching.
My selection is Channon’s Yem Kinn (8/1 on BF) who may have the class and stamina to overcome the draw. I am also looking to Osborne’s Drawnfromthepast (13/2 on BF) to join Yem Kinn against the field. Martin Dwyer’s mount would prefer it faster but may turn out to be too speedy for the opposition.
May 12, 2007 at 12:30 #71823I think Mythical Kid is opposable in the Lingfield Derby trial, and I’d expect Kid Mambo to have his measure, but Gringo is the one that really interests me today (2.00 Haydock).
He’s always worked like a more than useful horse, and came back to form when cruising to an effortless victory at Kelso last time. He beat little of note, but the manner of victory suggests he may now be coming to himself and his confidence will not have been done any harm.

This race doesn’t always go to the best horse and I’m going to play on Mark Johnston’s Heartstead Maison (9/2 on BF) who won’t mind the give, the distance and as he mastered the Chepstow and Newmarket terrain quite well, he shouldn’t mind this idiosyncratic course.
Marcus Tregonging’s Aqaleem should get the distance well and may be worth a small play at 8s if he overcomes any greenness.
