See the nice big advert for their new sponsorship in RP today.
Whilst I think it is an excellent idea to have a series I do find it slightly off putting with SJ’s statement at the bottom of the advert.
"Proud Supporters of British Racing since 1973". Well it’s easy to spend big money on sponsorships when you pay practically no levy on racing.
Whilst I think the situation with Betfair in Ireland, where HRI won’t accept the voluntary Levy payment from Betfair is silly. At least they stop Betfair from marketing on course.
Shows who has the power in the UK I suppose. The tracks and hence racing is killing itself.

Interesting that, yet again, a sport that claims to offer outstanding commercial value to sponsors has failed to attract a non-bookmaker to sponsor one of the biggest races of the season. We were told in the RP that Betfair was the other interested party.
Look on the bright side. At least Ralph ‘Make Up A Number’ Topping’s lot can’t sponsor at the Festival now.
