I think Hitman has been running very solid over 2m4/2m5 in the last two seasons. He is capable of running to a level of 165, especially in these conditions. Shishkin is the obvious stand-out, but I can’t have him at that price with his history. Hitman can at least sneak into a place.

Are we sold on Blue Lord’s stamina for this? The Clonmel Oil chase was a 4-runner crawl, nothing like what he’s likely to encounter here. I don’t think he’s all that anyway, he’d have finished a decent 2nd in the Champion Chase yesterday but in a different parish to the winner. To be fair half of these would have finished 2nd in that.

I’m quite a big French Dynamite fan and I don’t think he has loads to find with any of these bar Shishkin who obviously might bounce to the moon, I think he probably just wins this and wins it easily as he’s the only 170+ horse in here, bit like the Champion Chase yesterday once Edwardstone bombed.

Bet 365 are currently offering 7-4 Shishkin, if anyone is interested.

I get the feeling the bookies want to take him on , if they can get Potter beaten in the first then I reckon they ‘ll have a go

Needed Gaelic Warrior to win yesterday to keep my jackpot acca rolling on to Shishkin alive
Still want him to win as he is just drop dead gorgeous
Hope he doesn’t get any flashbacks of last year, he wasn’t happy in that flood

I can see it being a decent day for the bookies with a very competitive Stayers which they should get a good spread of bets across 3 or 4 in and 3 handicaps on the card and the Mares Novice could be a boilover as its just one of those races which can shock.

I know its a special/boost but they are brave going 7/4. You’ve got to be backing the bounce there or hoping one of these is stepping up a lot on their form to date. I wouldn’t take the field at 4/7 myself and I very much shy away from the front end usually. I don’t feel there’s another what I would call true G1 horse in the race and Fakir Doudaries is in the middle of all that Irish form. You saw what Shishkin did to him, his legs are gone at G1 level.

It’s not my preferred tactic, but having already bet Envoi Allen twice, I’ve had a third bet on him this morning.

I want Shiskin beaten, for obs reason (i’m on Fury Road) BUT

If Shiskin gets beat the post-race analysis, immediately after, on ITV racing will still be all about Shiskin and why he got beat

Envoi Allen and Hitman ew for me. I’d be more keen on Hitman except that I think he has been badly campaigned this year. I thought they would campaign him like they did Frodon in his breakthrough year, with the autumn Cheltenham mid distance handicaps then put away for this- instead he’s had a hard time over too long a trip, raced too often and bled twice.

Impressive from Envoi Allen there, amazing Shishkin even managed to stay up let alone finish second.
