We are thinking, with all the great sages we have around us, that we need to go up in trip. Shishkin was flat to the boards there, his jumping kept him in it until three out and that did him in. He was fighting to keep there, but I honestly don’t think he’s a two miler anymore. He needs to go up, how far up I don’t know. We’ll see. His next run will definitely be over further. He was trying and his jumping kept him in it but he was flat to the boards. It happens, he’s just lost that two mile speed and he’s going to need further and he could be anything. How do you interpret that? Did he mean he will definitely not be returning to 2 miles, or, the way it struck me, he’ll be going straight to staying trips. If so, what price The Gold Cup?

He has always looked like he needs to step up in trip
But that wasn’t the old shiskin today
He looked completely disinterested
The hard race vs energumene then the horrible experience he will have had at Cheltenham have likely had a significant impact
Until he proves it I’m really not sure we will ever see the real shiskin again
Yes, he was off the bridle so early in that great race vs Energumene, it has certainly left a mark
up in trip he should be able to travel better but might cry enough when he has to go through with an effort
hope he can recapture his old-self but the odds will be against himBlackbeard to conquer the World
For me, he’s got about as much chance in the Ryanair or the Cheltenham Gold Cup as he would have in the Champion Chase.
He’s a lightly-raced horse who has always seemed fragile to me and he just isn’t as good as he was.

Any price you like. 2 miles and Champion Chase aspirations to 3 miles 2 Gold Cup run in the space of three months doesn’t really happen in a normal year. The Ascot Chase over 2 and a half looks a suitable race for him.

Wouldn’t go that far. He wasn’t miles behind when he made a mistake. Was just a bit harder for him to go the speed like he used to. His next race will tell us more.
Blue lord and fakir doudaries both 14/1 for me
With GDC likely to run in the gold cup and allahos prep looking far from ideal have played those two
With Blue Lord I have a doubt he will get up the hill well enough over 2 mile 5 at Cheltenham the way he finished last time.
I’d be hoping he will improve for the step up in trip myself
Should come on plenty for the run
Think he’s been one of those keen going young horses who is slower than he thinks in his own head
If they can get him to switch off and settle don’t see 2 and a half being a problem

I was mainly trying to find two horses I thought would actually run if allaho doesn’t turn up
On Shishkin at 23s and 13s. Has always looked like this could actually be his optimum trip. Don’t think his reappearance run at Sandown was as bad as some have made out. He just looked a little outpaced and I believe that made him jump worse than ever. That’s the worst I’ve ever seen him jump and maybe at a more comfortable pace he will jump like he has done in the past. Had he jumped better last time I’m convinced he would have finished 2nd at worst

If allaho is fit and firing Willie will likely send blue lord to the champion chase
